Am I the only one that gets angry when I see men cry in Animes? It's not necessarily that I detest the idea of Men crying, it's just that in animes it always seems like men cry for the stupidest reasons, and whenever I see it happen it makes me angry cause any man that would cry under those kinds of circumstances are just disgraces to mankind. Mind you once again, I have no problem with men crying under specific conditions. I mean let's face it, I cried at my friends Funeral. So when I see a man character in an anime cry because another character dies, I find that perfectly reasonable, it's a tragic situation, but then I see these animes where men cry because they "didn't understand another persons feelings" then they get all emotional and it is just annoying to me. I mean if I met a guy that would cry over "misunderstood feelings" I would kick his ass. I mean they just cry over the dumbest things I've ever seen and this can easily make me hate an Anime.
So really I wanted to ask, am I the only one that hates this or do you guys agree with me? (Delete if duplicate)

Stop watching Shoujo/Romance animes then.
Go back to Shounen/Seinen and what not.

That's probably a good point, but still It's not so much that I despise the genre, but more I hate it when character design heads that direction.

Okay, so maybe I'm being a bit to critical... I would probably make fun of him, and maybe punch him once... or twice...

Oh wow, pick on someone for something as stupid as that. Way to go tough guy.

You should start getting into ethical subjectivism

Eh...I can feel what the O.P was saying. Men that are in the animes that are all like, "I didn't know you meant...." and boom the tears fall down.
I have to admit sometimes that kinda' kills the cool factor. Have I ever cried over that? No. Have I cried because something I wanted to convey hit the mark, but didn't stick. (meaning rejection.) Hell, I'm not going to lie. That hurts.

But some of the stuff I've seen.... It's pretty odd.
Would I punch the guy? No. Would I be like, "Wow...really dude?" Yes. Yes I would.

Your response is more reasonable than that guy and I guess I can sorta understand where he might be coming from, but different things impact different people in different ways. It wouldn't be right to criticize someone who cries at something you don't. However I have to agree with what you said about "Not knowing what the person mean't" and him crying over it is stupid.

i watch naruto and naruto shippuden all the time... and i can always see naruto crying... but naruto doesn't cry because of some shallow reasons but reasons like he lost his friend, he cannot defend his loved ones etc... no other anime that i know off which show cases men crying because of some shallow reasons...

it irritates me to seen the same character crying again and again.

but it kinda amuses me to see one that doesn't often show the signs for crying

I don't mind it at all. most of the anime/manga where men cry are more on the comedy side of things and a lot of the comedy in them comes from putting reactions and emotions into overdrive.

it can also create a fake/amusing sense of heightened drama

I agree with blood_wraith , But I guess they make them cry because they want the girls to get emotional? I don't know but my sister get emotional she says "It's rare to see a man crying!"

Eh, I'm not going to lie, I wouldn't care if you guys thought I was a horrible person or not, I would definitely fight the guy just so I could say to my friends, "Hey I just beat the crap out of some guy because he was crying for a stupid reason." Yeah, that would be pretty funny and make my day.
