Certainly! But as many people have already stated or at least intimated, the problem is that if one of the people doesn't feel that way, or even if something minor goes wrong like the timing of the 'big reveal' isn't quite right, it can really sideline, even kill, the friendship.

Saying "I love you" to a close friend is on the same level of magnitude as a marriage proposal, in the sense that it's kind of an 'all-in' moment. The other party either goes along with it, or the whole thing can topple.

We got close, very close. After a year, things changed, I started to have this weird feeling, and later did I know that he's starting to have weird feelings too. We talked, he confessed, I confessed, and now we're almost 3 years (and still counting).
