Yes, they can. My best friend confessed to me, and I told him that I would go out with him, not wanting to hurt him at the time and not knowing what else to say. But it turned out well, and we did like each other. I broke up with him tho, but we're best friends again now. |

I think I fell in love with a best friend before, but she didn't love me..so I don't know if it's possible for best friends to both love each other (though I don't see why not,) but I think it's probably possible for one to fall in love with the other.
