Kids sent home wearing amercian flag t-shirts on mexican holiday at school
Posted 5/6/10
op here listen I am all for people wanting to celebrate their holidays that's fine I really don't care, and If others want to join in that is fine as well but we shouldn't out people because of something like this. yeah I will admit I was a little cheesed when I posted eailer but people need to understand, that equality means mean treating every person equal and no different from else, not playing special to one group of people over the other.

In American nowadays there is plenty of racism, its just 90% pointed at the white male. By ourselves.

It's a terrible shame that everyone in the world rates higher than the US's own citizens. We couldn't celebrate Texas independence day when we liberated ourselves from Mexico, but we are celebrate May 5 as if it's mandatory. I don't mind observing another holiday, but not at the expense that makes it a bigger deal than any US observed holidays.

Common sense should at least told them that this might cause a problem.

I knew some people like that... and wanted to show off their American-ism to me, who is of mexican descent, even thought i am an American too, on May 5 (Mexican holiday)... then i asked them if they dressed up in green and partied on St. Patrick's day, and they said they did even thought it is an Irish holiday, not American.. and also they weren't of Irish-descent

I could think of many other better reasons to send kids home than wearing american flag shirts.

I can count on one hand who celebrates that holiday.

I could give a damn about it....and a bunch of other holidays. But....no nvm....not spilling my political and social views in this place.

Those kids were asking for it. Everything is so volatile nowadays because of the new law in Arizona. Those kids knew it was gonna ruffle some feathers.

right... I wear American flag t shirt's ever now and then and even one the day of this holiday this just more bull shit. American's have right to wear these shits any-day they want to, this is America after all or so it seems and what gets me they tried to label them as racist while one of the kids where half Hispanic, so self hating with in there own race okay then but meh oh well.

Look, dude, I'm not saying that the were wrong for wearing their red, white, and blue. They were obviously making some sort of statement by wearing it from head to toe and on Cinco de Mayo. If you think that their little clothing demonstration was innocently patriotic, I think you're wrong.

I kinda understand what the principals were talking about. Students were teasing those three guys and some complained to the principles so the principles were just being careful about something serious that might happen (people are cruel these days). So they were sending them home 'cause the other students were making a big deal out of it (they did say that holiday was important to the school). Calling them racist however is crossing the line.
