Student Humiliated by Mock Slave Auction at Ohio School

According to The Root, 10-year old student Nikko Burton was humiliated by his teacher during a mock “slave auction” at Chapelfield Elementary in Ohio. Burton, one of two black students in the class, was chosen to be a “slave,” while other students role-played as “masters” who inspected the “slaves” to see if they were fit for work.

“The masters got to touch people and do all sorts of stuff,” Nikko said, “They got to look in your mouth and feel your legs and stuff and see if you’re strong and stuff.”

Clutch Magazine reported recently that Burton was disciplined after he refused to participate, which involved “pocking prodding, and public humiliation.”

Although the lesson was the history teacher’s intention to explain slavery to students, Nikko’s mother, Aneka Burton, found the auction inappropriate, racist and degrading. A school district representative has apologized to the family over the phone, but the young student has not yet received an apology from his teacher.

Does this have anything to do with white supremacy in Hollywood?

That was what you needed to do first, but failed to do so, sir. The debate goes in turns, because that is established etiquette.

About the first one, Christianity was developed out of Judaism. In case you don't believe me, check out the Old Testament and Tanah... I doubt you'll find any critical difference between them.

About the second one, where in the world did I write to do all the crimes that you have mentioned?!

Read my comment again!!!
Everything that you have mentioned happens nowadays, as well. By the way, all historians claim that history repeats. So, it would be wise to know our ancestors mistakes and not to make them in the future...

Thought you would never ask.

As technology becoming more automated, we should be focusing on the basic of just what makes us humans. And how compassion is cultivated by human cultural practices of kindness, curiosity, and engagement. Unless we all forget how we humans tend to take our own cultural upbringing for granted, when it's also a piece of technology that holds values and meanings about how to engage with our environment.

Very well said.

In my opinion, people have received too much technology level-up over the last century.

I mean, all famous scientists in the past were temped by new achievements. As a result, we got plains, spaceships, advanced medical tools and so on. I agree, that's a great deal!

On the other hand, because of people's low morality, we also got rockets, guns, air pollution and so on. And why? The reasons are so simple and so old: wish for power, revenge, money and other "faithful" qualities that always were with us...

another day another racist outburst

UCLA Girl Goes Wild in Racist Rant on Asian Students

WESTWOOD, Calif. -- School officials at UCLA are mortified after a student made video slamming Asian students went viral over the weekend.

In the nearly three-minute video, the student, identified a Alexandra Wallace, rants about the "hordes of Asian people that UCLA accepts into our school."

Wallace claims not be be talking about her 'cool' Asian friends, but goes on to describe other Asians at UCLA as spoiled, rude and unintelligible.

In one searing moment, Wallace mimics an Asian student answering a cell phone in the school's library by saying, "Ohhhhhhhh! Ching chong ling long ting tong! Ohhhhhhh!"

"Hi. In America, we do not talk on our cell phones in the library!" she rants.

The video first surfaced Friday, the day an earthquake and tsunami rocked Japan.

And, Wallace is well aware of the disaster, "I swear they're going through their whole families, just checking on everybody from the tsunami thing. ... Like, you seriously should go outside if you're going to do that."

The original video was pulled down Friday afternoon, but by Monday, hundreds of thousands of viewers had watched the video on YouTube.

A number in the university directory listed under Alexandra Wallace was disconnected as of Sunday night, the Daily Bruin reported.

Well, that is indeed a horrible thing to do!!!

The worse thing is that there isn't a little number of such "private" accidents in every country. Since media prefers more "breaking" news, like this one, that often refer to "bad" citizens, readers make misjudgements about whole country.

The eight stages of genocide

The eight stages of genocide (1996) are the steps that every genocide goes through. Gregory Stanton, who had studied the genocide in Cambodia for the American State Department, noticed this when he saw the genocide in Rwanda unfold in just the same way. He wrote up his findings shortly afterwards in 1996 and now, before our eyes, the genocide in Darfur is following the very same steps in the very same order:

1. Classification: the division into us and them. This is extremely common in human society. While it is not a sign that genocide is on the way, genocide would be impossible without an us and a them.

2. Symbolization: words or symbols are applied to the them: the yellow star that Jews had to wear under Hitler, skin colour, classifications put on ID cards. Again, this is common and is not a sign of genocide, but genocide cannot proceed unless there is some sure way to tell people apart.

3. Dehumanization: the them become pariahs: they are seen as less than human, as animals or a kind of disease. The Tutsis in Rwanda were called cockroaches before they were killed by the thousands. Killing them was no longer murder – it was just ridding the country of something bad. Dehumanizing words, like “g--k” and “n----r”, belong to this step. Unlike the first two steps, dehumanization is not common! It is the first sick step on the road to genocide.

4. Organization: To kill people in large numbers you need organization: leaders, followers, a chain of command, duties, meetings, guns, training, hate speeches. Sometimes it is the government that does this, but often it is a paramilitary group that seems to be acting on its own (but which the government is either secretly helping or at least turning a blind eye towards). The killing might start at this stage, but not on a huge scale. Examples: the SS in Nazi Germany, the Ku Klux Klan in America, the janjaweed in Darfur.

5. Polarization: The first people killed in any genocide are not the pariahs themselves but those in the mainstream who speak up for them. The voices in the middle are silenced through threats, arrests or even killings. Now the message of hate goes unchallenged.

6. Preparation: the pariahs are often separated from the rest of the country – into ghettos, camps, reservations or some undesirable part of the country. Their property is taken from them (they are not coming back!). This step leaves them defenceless.

7. Extermination: the mass killings, the genocide proper.

8. Denial: The leaders of the genocide downplay it or tell complete lies and say there never was a genocide. As long as they are in denial the killings can go on.

America has gone through all eight steps with Native Americans, arguably up to step 6 with Japanese-Americans and at least as far as step 4 with blacks. Now you know why “n----r” is a bad word.

Stanton says that genocide is preventable by stopping it at one of the early stages.

hollywood continues to engage in racist casting look who they decide to pick to play a woman who has dark hair and olive skin

Media Takes Note of “The Hunger Games” Casting

Over the past few days casting speculation about Lionsgate/Colorforce’s latest film, The Hunger Games, has kicked into full gear.

It started with a Wall Street Journal article featuring Debra Zane Casting, the casting office in charge of culling through headshots of thousands of potential actresses for the role of Katniss, the novel’s lead heroine. The article by John Jurgensen reported that the casting breakdown distributed by Breakdown Services read that actresses submitting for the role “should be Caucasian, between ages 15 and 20, who could portray someone ‘underfed but strong,’ and ‘naturally pretty underneath her tomboyishness.’”

Fans who have read the novels know that while Katniss has a blonde mother, she takes after her father, whose ethnicity is never clearly stated. Katniss’s “olive skin” and “straight black hair” are physical traits that could be possessed by someone of any ethnicity–including people of mixed ethnicity. Given Katniss’s unspecified ethnicity, fans were confused as to why the casting call specifically targeted only white actors.
