This topic is the discussion of Internet Piracy. Not about Pirates that sail the seas while plundering everything it's path.

My question to you is do your condone in acts of interweb piracy? I bet 7/10 people do.

Do you think it is right to do so? The answer is obvious...or is it? I usually buy the albums of bands I want to support. Same goes for movies. I think you should do the same.

Ever gotten threat e-mails from the MPAA(Motion Picture Association of America) or RIAA(Recording Industry Association of America)? I have before I got a firewall. I never listen to them though. They are usually empty threats. I however do worry about getting caught...

If you have done Internet Piracy, about how much in US dollars of material do you think you have stolen? Including the programs...$3000+. That is total of a built up over a 5 year span though. Most of it Ive deleted by now.

As a word of warning. I think it is best to not give out any links(or names) to any sites that give out pirated copies of any type of digital media in this thread. *cough*Use google.*cough*

Discuss.

Well darn...if I can't tell anyone where to go watch new movies (presently in theaters) online for free, I guess I won't say anything at all.....

*cough* Google doesn't always word, best ask others for good sites *cough*

Anyway, I do think it is wrong if you say download a movie or an album then burn it and make copies, but if you just watch a movie then delete, I don't see it as a bad thing seeing as the movie will be on tv eventually =P
As for music, I always buy the album just to have a showcase =P
I download anime none-stop though, even as I type this.
I also got myself Photoshop CS3 and Microsoft Office [$999 to buy xD] all for free too, but Adobe and Microsoft are rich enough haha

I probably shouldn't do this, but we live in a corrupt society where everyone ignorantly things "It doesn't make a difference, it's just one person", so I'll through away morals and do it anyhow =P

When I was 15 I would have loved to support Photoshop and buy it. Me being a kid, I decided that spending 400 dollars on a program is not worth it so I pirated it. I knew it was never right to do so but...damn It bleepin expensive.

Only thing I pirate are old games that you can only get off google thus making the company not make any profit or music thats hard to get or would be rediculasly priced due to it being imported from another country.

it's a cycle. people want things cheaper, so they get things like movies and audio files off the internet. due to this, the price of CDs and DVDs rise in an attempt to make profit or at least break even, discouraging people to buy them but at the same time having no other alternative. the cycle continues. soon the general media industry will slow to an almost halt and it will be the fault of downloaders ^_^

Wrong. The media industry will not wait and watch their company go bankrupt. They are going to go on a lawsuit frenzy and put more pressure on the government to do something about it. They will do bot searches on torrent trackers and P2P Servers.

The only problem is, the torrent trackers and P2P servers reside OUTSIDE of the United States. No jurisdiction for them.

Not really. If they let you see it for free on Youtube, what's wrong with seeing it on your ipod?
