In britian, workered where fined a heavy sum by the RIAA for played the radio. Why? Because people outside could hear, thus, "stealing" music.

Honestly, if they don't want people to pirate programs, make them cheaper. Why? Install the $400 disk, and then they sell it on ebay for $20-$1. Photoshop is a big waste of money. Its not worth more than $40. But, I have it, Better than Jasc.

it's a cycle. people want things cheaper, so they get things like movies and audio files off the internet. due to this, the price of CDs and DVDs rise in an attempt to make profit or at least break even, discouraging people to buy them but at the same time having no other alternative. the cycle continues. soon the general media industry will slow to an almost halt and it will be the fault of downloaders ^_^
not my fault

Wrong. The media industry will not wait and watch their company go bankrupt. They are going to go on a lawsuit frenzy and put more pressure on the government to do something about it. They will do bot searches on torrent trackers and P2P Servers.

The only problem is, the torrent trackers and P2P servers reside OUTSIDE of the United States. No jurisdiction for them.

there will always be people who get away with it though.

The only thing i download is anime, maybe some music but sometimes rarely. In Canada it isn't illegal yet so i got nothing against it. There are other ways to not get caught and still download.

Yha, but nobody enforces it from Japan. It's usually not cost affective to do so even if they have international copyright laws.

waffle - how dare you raise such an inconvenient point of contention?

I think internet piracy is illegal, but not immoral. If they lowered the price of a stream of data, I'd pay for it. Right now, it's just ridiculous given the economy, to expect someone to pay $.99 for one song.

I have a lot of the music I like on CD (bought legally) so I usually just put in my computer and they download into my itunes library. Everything else I buy

Just because it's not enforced doesn't mean the creators aren't losing money from sites like these. We are in a sense , killing our own hobbies.
