Those have nothing to do with school, you arent understanding wut is there to learn from school. You dnt go to school to contribute back to humanity, one would go to school for oneself, to make money or so they tell you. I never said i was illiterate or was smart, i just said u dnt need to read or write to understand wuts going on really. See u have this misconception that the system works, yet u say it needs an over haul, by your terms the flaw of the system should cause drop outs and should be fixed, so the school system is to blame not completely the student dropping out. But see you have it wrong that u dnt need to go to school to be fine in life. You grow up people telling you to go to school but you really dnt, wut u need to something thatll actually get you wut u need, in our times a job.

Endless rambling is endless. When it only shows that you don't even have a direction nor a purpose for yourself. How pathetic.

For starters, motivation you really want what we have as teacher? Most cases these people are at the bottom when it comes to SAT score. Low motivation, not the brightest, in the college graduating with a 2 something grade point this scream Government worker. Why do you think school board adapted to zero tolerance policy they understand just how many half wit’s work for them. You would think a principle with a PHD could make disciplined decision would you not? That lack of creativity independent thinking and you think these people can motivate inspire children to become their best at anything. You have a teacher or two that may inspire a child in the system the entire time they are in school. That is very disappointing to me the next class instructor is waiting for the bell to ring and go do what they been thinking about most the day. This job is there pay check and really could careless, what is going on. These low life do the absolute minima to get by and after there long enough being terminated, would be like an act of god if it happened. A lot kids see money being made on the street and class room some government hack that wants leave even more because this job is an inconvenient to them. For a kid in the hands of a Governments school and parents’ they do not care. There future that was 50/50 has down 90/10 chance they will even finish. I have had parents tell me, it was good enough for them it good enough for their children as well. I am functionally illiterate spelling grammar blows but reading and comprehension has always been high. Math, Science’s, history have been my strong point mostly my creativity in resolving mechanical /electrical conflicts, to me I see the world in this fashion. PTSD with impairment the gift that gives forever very few days without pain thank you for the gift. I hear people talk but throwing money at it and that just a wast. With the current way for becoming teacher it will fail. teaching method people that want to teach coming out of the privet sector I would rather have a mechanical engineer teach higher math then somebody that went to school to teach it. Experience Matters you cannot teach that in a class room if you never had to use it, to being with. They came from the same system and can even do the home work assigned to the kid. Because the child next class, will just be another run of the mill uninspired, teacher just wanting to go home. There a lot of bright creative people out that would teach if you give them freedom to use their judgment. Some children may do better with just a hand full of teacher. If a teacher cannot teach at least 4 subjects they are not well rounded to be a teacher. I would like to see school out of the government’s hands not to cooptation either, just medium sized companies and churches take control and get good qualities people instill independent thinking and working with other. Teacher Union think of the union first teacher second school board third after they get past the janitors the kids are a thought bottom swamp.

Not to be an asshole but by your spelling and grammar, I see that you didn't do good school. I just have a thing for people that can't not type out the whole word or try to spell it correctly but hey that is just me.

Test scores don't mean shit and sorry to say that, I am not much on that bullshit that is just a way to see how good for bureaucrats to get more money for school. On a side note I made really good on my test scores but I didn't have the all mighty dollar or means to get my higher education.

This TEDx presentation talked about what I think is to be the single worst, inefficient, as well as ineffective teaching method in the US. And how to solve this problem not with more of the same teaching resources, but less.

Likewise, back in Taiwan this textbook based "drill and practice" teaching was accompanied with a "stick and carrot" incentive system. No open-forum based discussion group, the flow of information was one-sided, and the worst part was this was the norm even for art class!

In other words, the public education system throughout the developed nations all have the same teaching method, while ironically most private education sectors are the extreme of this case, with their high expectation of overachievers.

I know this for a fact because I was enrolled in a private elementary school back in Taiwan when I was a kid, and while I liked to facilitate my own learning in science, by myself reading and imagining a lot of scientific journals and facts. Reminiscing my learning experience I hated the classroom environment as well as the post-school prep class; it felt like I was nothing but a caged ape repeating what I was told, while I was constantly being compared to other apes on how well I can mimic an older one.

Regardless of the fact that I now feel like I wanna sue somebody for Grand Animal Cruelty, but when we're all guilty of the same crime due to we subjected ourselves under the very same education system. I think the priority one issue is an overhaul on our education, instead of us regressing ourselves further down to the realm of stupidity; by us hijacking our legislation with our greed and selfishness, because we all know just how big corporations hated competitions.

So with that said, any ideas?

The school system isnt about "real" education, its about indoctrination into the country's value system. The stuff u learn in school is pointless and the stuff u learn in college is only meant for the job market. We aren't taught to think for ourselves, but rather mimic what we learned, which is often bias and inaccurate. But it has to be this way, because if you dont indoctrinate people into the system the system can't survive.

Besides we have the internet, so school isnt the only way to learn anymore.

Solution: internet.

in every 1st and 2nd, as well as most 3rd world countries, you have to have some type of education to get a decent job outside of prostitution or cutting rocks for a penny a day. And the USA's education system doesn't do a good job, so it needs an overhaul. peace over war

Well I say the system isn't worth the cost at our individual intellect, creativity, or originality. When the system isn't producing an enriched, complex, and diverse society. Regardless just how collectively unifying, inductive, and homogenizing its existence must be in order for it to preserve only itself. Therefore just like everything else in nature, the system must evolve in order to serve our need to be creative.

how can i grow up, when the world is holding me down? When hypocritical administrators raise children up to be failures and later hunt them down for being one as adults.

The education system will have to find another puppet to play games with, for i grow weary of such games. Im going to Japan. Peace over war

When sociology define culture as the ways of thinking, the ways of acting, and the meaning for material objects that together shape a people's way of life. You can thereby answer your own question by you define the American cultural standards and values. Which could be anything but your own individual culture.
