What are the general attitude toward the Chinese in the country of Japan?

I'm pretty sure that Japan had a Chinese presence prior to the Meiji resotration. For example, a exemplary hero of the chinese people, Zheng Chenggong, or 'Guoxingye', was half Japanese, his father living in Japan for quite a while.

I used to be one of them...my classmates loved me if I say so myself.

They have more problems with AMERICANS or westerners.

I would say generally, they're fine in Japan. But I did hear somewhere once that there are a lot of Chinese terrorists in Japan due to the hatred still going on. I don't know if this is entirely true, but it's just something I heard from someone.

OK, I will tell you honestly. There are 1 out of 100 people are Chinese in Tokyo already and we are overwhelmed by China's recent economic development and it's been believed that China will be the next super power in the world. Also Chinese tourists are more welcomed now because they spend a lot of money in Japan and it's a good thing for Japanese economy. Actually, many Chinese people visititing Japan nowadays are conciderd to be rich.

On the other hand,sorry to say this, people from mainland China tend to have less manners,(like not be on the line,noisy or not to throw garbages away in the trash cans etc) besides there are still a lot of Chinese people who are staying illegally in Japan and some of them do some crimes so unfortunately those people are giving other Chinese people bad names. But as long as you are a decent Chinese person you won't be treated less than other Japanese people.

I've heard that since people in mainland China have had anti Japanese education they usually think Japanese are very bad people so when they come to Japan they are surprised by the fact that actually Japanese people are not bad but nice to them. Well, as long as you are friendly to us we are friendly to you too.

1. The Japanese have bigger problems with Koreans. This is not to say that they like the Chinese - they don't. But the Chinese aren't on the chopping block like Koreans are.

2. The Japanese do not care much for Westerners at all when you get deeper than the surface interest and politeness.

3. If you're black in Japan, I would dare say that you'd be treated better in Japan than you are in the US.

Their governments are building up better relations, but this does not apply for each country's total population.
In certain places of each country, yes, they do not like each other.

I do not speak for the Chinese-Americans or Japanese-Americans.

Well with my friends, classmates and teachers we all got along really well, and strangers usually thought i was japanese anyways.
They usually just have a problem with chinese products really.
I have a bigger problem in some places in china when they mistaken me for japanese =_=

Also, from the Japanese people I met they don't really have anything against Chinese people but some but they "know" that it is common for Chinese to not like Japanese people or government / history. This might make the atmosphere stiff in the beginning of a meeting? Idunno.

But yeah, there are always exceptions and A-holes out there :P.
