Not to be a grammar douche, but does anyone else find it annoying when people call the plural of anime, "animes"? Or the do you draw anime threads. Unless you are an animator you don't. Comics are manga. The plural also being manga. My grammar isn't perfect, but seriously! Reading is fundamental folks.

I guess its cuz since if you say anime it could mean 1 or more, they want to make it easier to understand by adding an s

What do you know, "anime" isn't even a real word in the dictionary. And I agree with superluccix it is to make it easier to understand.

Let them use it however they want.

It doesn't seem hard to understand. When you click on the "amine" tab for the website do you expect to find only one show? lol Not trying to hate on people who pluralize it. It's just a pet peeve, and I wondered if anyone else shared it?

Whether or not anime could be spelled as animes animed or whatsoever, you have to take into consideration that english is not a first language worldwide. The common rule of english is to put an 's' behind to signify the plural term. They are not writing a book, spelling/grammar check shouldn't even be a consideration unless the post itself is utterly butchered beyond recognition less the alphabets. Just be less of a grammar whore and try to get the meaning behind the post instead

I'd say I was watching an anime, or some anime. One would figure if you're going to use the word anime in an anime website the word anime would be an exception in the built-in dictionary.

The word "anime" is an English word derived from Japanese origins, and it's not a "fundamental" word in the English language. It's nor common nor basic, so why would you expect everyone to understand its unique pluralization just the same way you would expect people to know the plural form of, let's say, "dog" to be "dogs"? Reading is fundamental? Honestly, do you read the word "anime" often in everyday American books? I think not. To be frank, I don't know myself what is the proper pluralization of the word "anime", but I'm modeling my feedback as if you are correct that when the word "anime" is pluralized, it does not require an "s" at the end of it. I just think it's a bit unreasonable for you to expect others to know this as if it was common knowledge.

The addition of the "S" is nothing more than ignorant "netspeek" The same as the word is WAS, not WUZ, oddly enough its the same amount of letters but they want to spell it like they grew up without the benefit of a grade school education. Its honestly not worth the effort to try and correct them.

They usually use phonics to shorten words LOL and such adding an s at the end of anime is opposed to the normal shortening convention JIMO (just in my opinion)
