Most people do for some reason. The Texas 'country' accent is very contagious.

Every time I watch a show and the host is talking to someone with a southern accent all of a sudden the host has the accent too lol

That's because the Texas accent is awesome, it's not too drawn out, or hard to understand, it just sounds nice.

It's a rarity for someone to have an accent down here. It's mostly those up in the northern part of the state.

I don't know about that. I can easily tell if the person I'm talking to is from Houston/Austin, East Texas, or Dallas/FW just by their accent. You probably are so used to it you don't hear it anymore.

Those with the strongest accents in Texas come from the many small towns. If you grew up in the city you'll have a very slight accent.

Probably. There's not a variety down here. In Houston, oh gosh it's a little surprising.

Well to be honest the folks that I talk to that are from Texas are (like Killar mentioned) from small towns (don't ask which one, 'cause to be honest I don't remember, but she was pretty emphatic that it was *tiny*).

She does do an extremely funny impression of a "West Texas" accent though.

I love an Australian accent on a woman. It doesn't need to a "proper or elegant" accent for an american to love just hearing it. Some like the Scottish or Irish accent lovers, but I'm an aussie man all the way!
