This is the thing about some Asian countries or any recently developing country. Every time there is an economic/industrial boom in a country, there is a high rate of pollution and unethical practice. The US, Britain, Germany, Russia, France, The Roman Empire, etc have all done it. The main reason why Asian countries seem to be polluting much more than other countries during their industrial expansion is because the pollution and environmental hazards only increase every year due to population, technology, constantly shrinking supply of resources, etc. If China had it's industrial boom in the lat 1800s and the US had theirs now, it might be flipped around. In 30 years, if China hit their plateau and Brazil happens to hit a huge industrial boom and urbanization, the pollution caused by Brazil may be even greater; since possible pollution, limitation of resources, and technology will have increased through the 30 years. I am worried about the pollution in Asia, however. (As well as those of here.) A lot of the pollution is also because some US companies produce their goods in China...So, the US can look nice and pretty while they actually produce pollution overseas.

We seem to be nearing a point where our industrial development and environmental behavior will hit a point where we will physically suffer from pollution on a mass scale. Politicians and businessmen want to take pollution as far as it can go so that they can profit as much until they are literally forced to stop. The public doesn't want pollution but many people have stock investments. Our own stocks suffer if corporations sacrifice their profits for environmental responsibility. (Corporations are *as they always say" machines that involve the entire world where one person can't really stop it.)

The pollution in china far eclipses that of the United States. They have a new coal power plant go up ever 10 DAYS. Sadly we don't hear how bad it is because of China's government. I had the luxury to two weeks there this last spring. when I came back I had to be admitted to a hospital my sinus infection was so bad. When I have a chance I will go back there a BURN THE PYUU ZHOU HOTEL TO THE GROUND.

Thats what they get for not giving a f#ck about the environment. If you see the satellite photo, china looks like a gigantic ashtray. The chinese government kicked out 2 million people out of their homes, just to build empty sky rises to impress western nations in the upcoming olympic event. They could care less about people-- why would they care about their environment?

Apparently, in Beijing and Shanghai, there is now at least one sandstorm every week because the area around the cities are so void of trees, the sand just blows straight into the cities and do not get trapped by trees as was previously. Imagine trying to do a over 2m high jump and get sand blown into your eyes during the Olympics. OUCH!

I also read somewhere that all our waste electronics such as computers and handphones get sent to a town in China. This town will take apart the electronics, pick out the lead, melt the lead and make the lead reusable again. The lead fumes are causing so much brain damage that 1 in 5 people suffer from brain damage in that area. But because this trade is so lucrative, many towns are starting to do it too. Lead fumes are expected to be able to be detected at least 50km away in the future at the rate of growth of this trade.

However, if you go up to the peak of the Great Wall of China, Guiyang, Qian Dao Hu (Thousand Islands Lake), Jiuzhaigou and Tibet, "what pollution?" comes to mind.

Pollution scares the heck out of me. Not for it itself but for the danger aftermath it has on the world.
China's pollution is CRAZY. Considering the amount of people that use energy and throw it back out into the air.. :O
I seriously think the world will suffer in the future due to our carelessness of the environment. :\

Pollution is happening around the world...not only in China...

If people who just walk or use the public transport to work or to do grocery chores without the need for cars...pollution in general would go down dramatically....
