I'm going out on a limb here, but based off of a normal 640x480 avg about 160megs (give or take), the video stream for the Droid App is a 240p stream which is about 1/4 the size. So, I would guestimate the size to of the video stream to be roughly about 40megs per show If it is because of your data package, you could go to your account online and check your current usage. Watch a show and wait a couple of hours for the data to update (I doubt it's real time). That would give you another way to check the data usage for one episode. Plus you can skip about 1.5 Min in the front for OP and cut off the ED too for a total of about 22 minutes of viewing time. BasouKazuma, is there a revision list log or any where we can check the current status of the project? thanks ~trip |

Hello,
I have a Dell Streak, loaded Android 2.2 with Flash. Considering the hardware in the device I usually try to use the normal website for watching video's. Because the quality is so low on the Android app and the mobile site. However, I was wondering if there is a way to disable Video Smoothing by default. For low power devices Video Smoothing is very taxing. Disabling it makes the difference between slightly jumpy video with it on and perfect play back with it off. Being that there isn't exactly an option in Android to Right Click and disable it and that the Dell Streak does not have a keyboard to press the "S" key to disable it, it makes it kind of hard to watch in 480 or 720. Is there a way to disable it in the URL or possible that CR could add another button to the Flash UI so it can be disabled by button press on the bottom like we can with autoplay. Thank you for any help you can give me. |

I'll add a Changelog to my post on the first page.
File Size for Android videos: 240P is ~33 MB (Currently available) 360P is ~73 MB (Not yet available) File Size for Roku videos: 360P is ~85 MB (Currently available) 480P is ~144 MB (Currently available) We are working to make the video quality selectable through the Android app so that people can switch between 240P and 360P. The Roku encodes use the same encode profile as Android but at higher bitrate and resolution. Unfortunately, the Roku encodes don't play smoothly on my HTC Evo so they would probably only be useful for the next generation of high end Android devices. |

Thanks, I'm in the process of buying a Samsung Galaxy Tab, and am trying to decide which data plan/carrier to go with. I think I'm gonna go with Verizon, b/c they have $35 for 3gb/month. With what I plan on using it for, I think this will suffice. |

The 0.2.2 update works nicely on my Droid Eris. The streaming seems to have to spend less time buffering, which is nice.
As a side note, i have to uninstall and reinstall the app to get it to work, as i had the old version and its settings or something were getting in the way and would not let stream in-tell i did that. |

Just an FYI about the CR Droid App
I flashed my Droid X phone and UPGRADED from stock Vzw garbage to Fabolous ApeX ROMS and the App played just fine. That was the first thing I tested when I redid the phone. Got to have my anime fix. Thanks for adding the change log. Helpful Glad to see that my guestimate was NOT too far off on the video size. I guessed conservatively to the high side on purpose considering it might impact a data plan. ~trip |

I just want to keep track at were we are at. Any idea when we will look at BETA level deployment? Also, be sure to post if there is any load testing or any features that you want us to hit heavy to stress test the program. ~trip PS sorry for double post. |

Beta version may be when we have support for advertisements (for non-paying users), changing video quality and all of our content is available through the app since those are the only major things that are missing. Problems with the video player itself are what Google would need to fix.

I just did that today, so I look forward to testing it a little with the Crunchyroll Droid App. ~trip UPDATE: The Gingerbread 2.3 was a little to rough for daily use, so I've rolled back to the Fabolous ApeX ROMS for now (rats) |

I remember seeing one about changing what the app logs about you and sends back. I'd like more info on that. Also, when ads get implemented, will you log more things like the other ad supported apps (ie. my phone's serial number, phone number, etc.) and give the ad companies my info? Thanks. |

I already addressed this. We don't sell any personal data we collect. It's stated in our Privacy Policy.
http://www.crunchyroll.com/privacy I don't remember what the other version changelogs were but I can see if the developer can update the rest of the info. |

BasouKazuma wrote: Currently the videos are 240P but we have a 360P version which is ready to be used as well once we provide a way for people to switch between the qualities. The 360P and 480P Roku encodes also work for Android but those are only really useful if you hook up your phone to a TV since 360P Android quality looks fine on a phone. We are going to provide 720P for Roku in the future, but that would not be useful at all on Android unless hooked up to a TV since Android phones don't have 720P displays. It would just cause your phone to die quicker. Android tablets are becoming much more popular, and would benefit from higher resolution videos and would run very smoothly using processors like the nVidia Tegra 2. additionally, any progress on the pause/timeout issue? (see my last post in this thread) |

When you unlock your screen, the video has locked up and you have to start over to continue to watch. The issue with the video resuming in the background is know and will be worked on. |
