What kind of Droid phone do you have? As a premium subscriber, it should work on either WiFi or 3G.

Does it work ok when you have 3G signal but fails to work when you are on wireless only? Can you provide a few more specific details?

I had the same issue on the last update. I found that I needed to LogOut and Log back in. I think I also did a Uninstall of the program and then reinstall. Make sure that you begin with a log out state on the App.

Normally on updates they have a force logout but they failed to implement that so after the update it looked like you were logged in but actually you were not.

For your situation, I would suggest a complete reinstall (if you've not done that yet).

Settings -> Applications -> Manage -> Crunchyroll

Once here I would suggest you do this: 1. Force Close 2. Clear Data 3. Uninstall

The go back to the MarketPlace and do a new install. It should show App version 0.3.1
After the install, go into the App and then using the "shift button" (what I call it, the secondary function key) bring up the LogIn option.

I have the Droid X. Up until the last update I had absolutely no issues playing video over wifi. Since then I've somewhat erratically been unable to play certain videos (as if my login credentials weren't enough to classify my as premium). Last night, I was trying to watch Eureka Seven and it wouldn't let me watch any of the videos because I wasn't a "Premium Subscriber". I uninstalled the app and reinstalled hoping that would fix the issue, but all it did was erase my cache of video's and not only would it not take my credentials but it wouldn't download anything from crunchyroll so all I got was an empty white screen with Anime and Drama buttons at the top.

This morning however I seem to be back in business and things are working ok, hopefully things stay this way

Okay, well this worked, Thank you. I am able to watch anime now.


New problem though:

Best Student Council:

It's missing episode 3. I know you are probably aware of this.

Also: It has 2 sets of subtitles on MOST of the episodes but not all of them: The overly large white ones that now seem to be the norm on the app (WHY? I would rather see the anime than have the screen blocked by subs!) and the yellow ones that come on the anime. The subtitle issue is on the following episodes: 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 ,18 ,19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26

It's my first time trying to watch Best Student Council and I would appreciate it if the white subtitles could be removed so I can read the smaller yellow ones that also allow me to see the anime. Thank you.

It sounds like it was the same issue that @harvestmoonperson was having. The issue was authentication that could not be accomplished after the program upgrade. I have a Droid X also. The App ran fine in stock. Now I'm running new ROMS (Fabulous ApleX 1.4.1) and the Crunchyroll app still works great. I did have the same issue as you as soon as the CR App was upgraded. But after logging out, uninstalling, reinstalling the app .. all those issues cleared up.

I'm glad to hear that it worked for you. As for the episodes, CR (of which I am not associated with, I'm just a fan and subscriber like you) working to get their massive backlog of Anime converted to a CR compatible format. That is also along with Roku and other subscriber services that require the videos to be Re-rendered.

Ep03 of Best Student Council is obviously a error and hopefully they will resolve it. Might be an indexing issue or the episode might have had issues that made rendering it a problem (just guessing).

Normally once they become aware of a problem, they are pretty quick to get it cleaned up. They might have to redo the whole series to make it clean and all the subs show up properly.

I have a wifi only Xoom and the cruncyroll app force closes every time I try opening it. It appeared to work correctly when I had the 3g/4g Xoom so it may be related to the lack of a 3g radio.

Issue with logging in was fixed earlier.

Don't officially support Android 3.0 yet since we don't have any 3.0 devices but we'll try to look into that Xoom issue.

Going to have Best Student Council fixed.

I've been trying to use the app on my archos101, but every time i try opening a video it immediately force closes. I'm using a wifi connection and android 2.2. Is this most likely a hardware compatability?

I just picked up the wifi only version of the xoom. Attempting to open the application leads to an immediate force close. I can view the videos through flash, but would love to see the main app work, or some sort of tablet version of the app.

(If it helps, I reported the force close through the functionality given by the force close dialog)

Archos uses non-standard versions of Android which is why our app doesn't work on it. We don't have any Archos devices so getting it to work (if possible) is not likely to happen in the near future.

Similarly, we don't have a Xoom or Android 3.0 device yet but we should be able to get our app working on it when time permits. Videos should run smoother through Android 3.0 since I believe it has a much better video player.

I have a WiFi only version of the Xoom, and the app force closes on launch. This was tested with version 0.3.1.

Since there is confirmation now that 0.3.1 works with the 3G version of the Xoom, I wonder if this has to do with checking cellular status? The 3G version has the 3G cellular chips at least, the WiFi would lack them totally. Just a thought, not sure what the app actually does!

I realize from the post earlier that there is no Xoom gear present there to test code against, but potentially with more WiFi only Android devices coming out it may be worth checking into :)

Thanks again for the app though, it works great on my other devices!

I have the original Droid, and since the update I keep on getting the 'The video cannot be played' message on any video I try to watch. Also, I do have the Premium membership.

(On a side note, I'm having the same issue with my YouTube app )

Just wondering what the status is with getting the app to work with Archos devices. I have a 101 tablet and would even upgrade to premium membership if I could view on my Archos.

Im having problems getting videos to play on on my Samsung Captivate running Froyo. Im watching on 3G as the wifi does't work in my home on my phone. But the video will start to play than goes to a permanent pause. It's not buffering because the video is fully buffered and still wont continue playing. Anyone else having this issue? Or any ideas how to fix it? Thanks!
