Just tried CR on my Droid Incredible with 2.2 Virtuous ROM, worked like a charm except battery got a little warm. Would be nice if the mobile CR site was more "optimized for mobile". (or at least that's what my flash player was arguing about)
Also, this was on Verizon 3G on SD. No stutters whatsoever.
Edit: And the first part I was using the regular CR site, with SD version of episode. But still, an app version would make it easier to browse.

I would also like an Android app.

I use the regular site and it works OK, but not all that well for mobile usage.
For one, it uses CPU decoding (Is that because flash does not have GPU decoding on android at all, or that it just dosnt have it for that codec?)
And it is VERY poor when the connection drops out. You have to re load the entire page to continue playback.
I watch it on the train and there are two places allong the line where the reception drops out, and this is very frustrating.

Also its hard to press the buttons on the player sometimes because they are quite small, you have to zoom right in on the buttons just to press them.

So yes it works, but can we please get a native app? If its a native app I would imagine that it would use the internal media player framework that supports proper hardware decoding, and would also deal with connection drop outs and stalls much better than the crappy flash player.
Oh and also have a more finger friendly UI

I tried the mobile site today, and the video was all messed up! it seems the bleach 288 that is up there has a corrupted video stream.
(or the streaming server was playing up if you do on-the fly transcoding?)

Having some video issues with CR in Android. Getting a lot of green pixels. Like it's not encoded right. Anyone else seeing this or is it just my Evo?

The videos work fine on my HTC EVO so you should try uninstalling the Adobe Flash Player and installing the latest version from the market. Also, do you have a 3rd party ROM installed? Someone else experienced a different problem due to a ROM they had installed.

The videos working okay on my Motorola Droid 1.

I was wondering why the recent page on the mobile site shows different episodes compared to the full site?

Adobe Flash 10.1.92.10 added hardware video acceleration for H.264 videos. My CPU is still maxed out though. I guess there are still issues with it (on my Motorola Droid 1 at least).

Adobe Flash 10.1.95.2 fixed the slow audio issue.

http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime/recent and http://m.crunchyroll.com/anime/?tab=recent still show different episodes.

The Recent tab on the mobile site seems to just display the last few videos that were released and even shows multiples of the same series if multiple were recently released while the Recent tab on the main site shows all of the Simulcast shows and lists when the last episode was released for each. Though, I think the best option is to eventually change the page to display like it does through the iPhone app.

As for the new version of Flash, I think we're going to have to re-encode the videos in order to take advantage of the hardware acceleration since the videos currently aren't 'Mobile Optimized'.

Any timeline to when the mobile videos will become "mobile optimized"?

BasouKun A lot of the videos work on my Droid X, but they still say its not mobile optimized can you get rid of that message? when most of the videos work? It is annoying to get that message.

Tried testing out the mobile version of the site and streaming a video.

Picked "Sora No Otoshimono Forte", seemed to work fine. Though I did detect some minor lag.

Using a HTC Desire, dunno what OS, maybe the latest android?

To me it's pretty clear that the experience is not the same for everyone, as flash is not hardware accelerated so a lot of things can lag the video quite a bit, even on a powerful phone like the EVO.

Rather than put the time in on a mobile site, I really think that an app is clearly the way to go here considering that Android is now the most popular mobile platform in the US at this moment.

It would be very nice to have some kind of time line or project progress from the CR team. As it stands, my time to watch anime is at work and while riding a bus. I cannot do that via CR on my phone as it stands (and there are others) so I would have to resort to downloading fansubs rather than legally licensed simulcasts CR provides.

I beg CR to fully support the popular android platform with a fully functional app.

I posted this in another thread:

I have no estimated time but it's on our to-do list and being actively pursued. I think we're trying to hire a new person to work on it, among other things, since out current staff probably won't have the time and know how to do it (without first doing extensive research).

Though, I'm not really sure if Android is ready for video streaming outside of Adobe Flash. TV.com is the only Android App I see that legally offers tv shows and I'm pretty sure they have to split the videos into multiple parts when they stream it which is not ideal. Not even Netflix, with their millions upon millions of dollars, has created an Android app yet; though they have confirmed that they are working on one some months ago.

I think Android 3.0 is going to have a better set of tools for video streaming so do not be surprised if it takes months for us to release an Android App and don't be surprised if it is only available for Android 3.0+.

How about a timeline to when the mobile site will have flash videos that are "optimized for mobile."

Bitbop is a fully featured video streaming service with an application. It works extremely well and offers a lot of full content. I dont agree that android isnt ready. Hulu and netflix both are actively developing applications for android. CR should too, rather than a "wait and see" approach.
