Edit: I think we figured out the problem so the videos should be fixed by tonight.

Out of curiosity, are you at liberty to share what that problem was?

It was just a bug with our video encoder. It affected our Roku and Android encodes from the last few days. The videos worked but they weren't encoded properly which caused the videos to stutter and not work on some Android devices.

I'm not sure what changed that would cause the videos to not work on some Motorola Droid phones but we'll try to look into it.

FYI: I'm not using a Motorola. I use a Samsung Intercept.

Just tried it on my old Samsung Moment and it doesn't work. Intercept is an updated version of the Moment so I'm guessing everything in that line of phones was affected as well as Droid phones. So I'll make sure it works on the Samsung Moment since, if it works on that, it will most likley work on your phone but we don't have any Droid phones so I'll rely on people in this thread to report that it's working.

Yep. Droid X user here. Whenever you think it works just quote my post and I'll test it out asap. I should be around for a while at least.

Good job forgetting to quote the part where I called it pre-alpha (I know it's in alpha stage, I was just undermining it due to lack of functionality).

I already made it very clear, but one more time:

I have no problem with them releasing an early build for us to mess around with while they work out the kinks. I don't have unrealistic expectations. This has absolutely nothing to do with that. It has to do with the fact that it's advertised as a finished product and a selling point of the paid membership. When you go to sign up, nowhere does it let you know that it's a very early build that has no functionality more often than not. All it says is that if you give CR some money, you get to watch CR on your phone.

The problem is not with the product, it's with the fact that it's falsely advertised. If you were new to this and went to sign up, tell me where exactly it lets you know that it's alpha. No fine print, no asterix, just a big fat column that tells you that one of the reasons to buy the membership is to be able to watch it on your phone.

New version of Bleach 304 is ready. So if that works, the others should work too.

If it doesn't work. Try hitting Menu then, Refresh on the episode list. If that doesn't work, try uninstalling and reinstalling. If that doesn't work, you won't hear from me again ... I mean tell me.

Tried refreshing, uninstalling, and now I'm restarting my phone. I'm still getting the same error.

Edit: Restart did nothing.

I just went through all the steps you gave including the reinstall. It still doesn't work on the Samsung Intercept. I get the same error I reported earlier. Better luck next time, guys!

Just got around to checking it out on the Samsung Moment and it still doesn't work on it either. So we fixed the problem with the stuttering but not the incompatibility with some devices. So we'll continue looking into it.

Edit: Oddly it works on the original Droid which I didn't realize we had.

Alpha is the initial hammered out code that works for a few minutes before it crashes. It is normally not released beyond programmers and hard core testers.

Beta is a more stable product that still experiences crashes, bugs and occasional code modifications. Some features are added or removed at this stage also.

"Gold" this is the release candidate where most all known documented issues have been addressed

I suggest you wait until the App goes GOLD before you use the app. I think your current argument is harsh and uncalled for in this stage of development of the Droid Product.

It appears to me that thesandboxhero is not criticizing the application, but rather that it being touted as a Crunchyroll feature in advertising (apparently without noting it is an alpha product).

I believe that is a valid point.

For those unable to watch the latest videos, what version of Android are you running on? You can get that information but going to Settings and About Phone. There it will tell you the Android/Firmware version and Build number.

Samsung Intercept. Android version 2.2.1. Build number FROYO.DL05

Edit: One thing I forgot to mention. Last season's simulcasts that are now in the Anime section still seem to run fine. The episode I tested was Otome Yokai Zakuro episode 13.

Dont know if it has been reported, but on my EVO (running Cyanogen 6.1) while paused, when the screen turns off, the beginning of the video's audio starts playing with the screen off. When you unlock your screen, the video has locked up and you have to start over to continue to watch.

First off, thank you so much for the Droid App, it's been a great thing to have on my phone. I understand how coding and compatibility could be a nightmare as the Droid platform. . .isn't really a platform. There are so many variations of hardware, and software, it must be a headache at times to get even a modicum of compatibility. I for one, however, appreciate and understand all of the hard work that CR and crew is doing to make the Droid applet work. So. . .again, thank you.

After the update, I've been having the, "Sorry, this video cannot be played" message on my Droid 2 via Verizon. I did go through the steps of uninstalling, rebooting the phone, and re-installing, but to no avail. I even went in and tampered with the flash player settings (10.1 version at this point), but I still couldn't get it to work. I have noticed however, that I can get the 720p videos to show up if I view the full site from my phones web browser, and while they are a little stuttery, the 480p's play nicely.

Phone Model: DROID2
Android Version: 2.2
System Version: 2.3.20.a955.Verizon.en.US
Baseband Version: BP_C_01.09.07P
Kernel Version: 2.6.32.9-g463500f

It appears that the last batch of encodes do not play at all. All previous encodes play properly.

My phone if a totally stock (no mods) Droid X

System Version 2.3.3.340.MB810.Verizon.en.US
Model number: DROIDX
Android version: 2.2.1

Thanks for mentioning this, I was going to bring this known issue back up also. Would be nice when this gets fixed because then we can pause and pocket the phone until we can revisit and pick back up where we were on the anime. ATM, we're forced to quit the video and then manually relocate the part where we left off.

Apparently I did, my apologies and I understand a little better what you are saying.

I think you are correct in that CR should not be positioning the Droid App in its marketing at this time. Or rather, they should be prequalifying it more clearly as a "Work in Progress"

Sorry for missing your point that was buried in the post.
