Just noticed something unusual about the app, tablet's system language setting seem to affect which video are available for viewing. With French, only video available for viewing were Space Brothers, like the 30 last episodes of Naruto, Hunter X Hunter and Fairy Tail.

Using a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 on ice cream sandwich in case it's relevant.

This looks a lot like the bug I'm currently having on my HTC Incredible S... I don't quite get how the language settings would change on its own (since it was working fine a little more than a week ago), but you just put the finger on a very interesting point.

EDIT: My system's language is indeed French....
EDIT2: Switching it to English did fix the issue... but honestly, this should be fixed. I don't know how big your user base is in Quebec, but most of us do use French on our cell phones/tablets. We shouldn't need to stick with our second language in order to have access to what we're actually paying for (though the issue seem to apply to non-subscribers too).

I am sick of waiting for Crunchyroll to update their Android app with a new tablet interface. My viewing experience on my tablet has been annoying since 0.7.x and I can't take it anymore.

So for all of you who watch on your tablets, I managed to find the last version of the app before it sucked. You can download the .apk here:

http://iamtherobin.com/android/Crunchyroll%200.6.5.apk

Copy it to your tablets and make sure you enabled "unknown sources" in the security menu in android settings in order to be able to install it. And don't update it until Crunchyroll updates the newer version with a tablet interface.

Remember to completely wipe all app data/cache after installing if you overwrote a newer version.

Some Android-related bugs on the Kindle Fire HD (version 0.7.2, as provided by support, not from the Amazon AppStore).
1) If you pause a video and then let the device sleep or lock, the app will stop playing the video and show a blank screen with an error dialog that it could not play the app. If you hit OK you can go back into the app, but any attempt to play another (or the same video) will get this dialog again and a blank screen behind it BUT the audio will start playing on the episode. Even killing the app via settings will not stop the audio; you have to reboot the device.

2) If you let the device sleep or lock with the app on the queue tab, when you come back in and launch the app, the queue and anime tabs will be blank. If you return to the device home and then re-launch the app, the queue and anime tabs will then work.

Hope these reports help!

I wonder what Funimation and Netflix are doing differently then - no issues there... I am able to view the 360p streams on m.crunchyroll.com

Since mine's a 4G Verizion, I don't know if I can flash a different ROM without losing my connectivity though.

Supposedly Verizon approved the ICS update, but just haven't pushed it out yet.

It's some combination of video encoding options that trigger it. I managed to reproduce the bug in the samsung video player and MX video player as well with certain mpeg4 files. Hardware decoding of certain formats and bitrates cause the artifacts. I don't even completely understand why they redirect android tablets to the app and mobile site to begin with. I have always watched the 720p desktop versions even using honeycomb 3.2 on my 7.7 tab. Just be aware that samsungs fantastic software development team somehow broke flashplayer video playback on ICS for the 7.7 though it works on unofficial 4.x roms.

The only problem now is Adobe randomly decided to abandon their customers by stopping development of flash across multiple platforms while there isn't even a suitable replacement to migrate to.

Well I've never had too much qualms about the CR app on Android, except my only caveat would be a lack of landscape mode in anything other than when the video actually starts to play, on my tablet (an acer a100). Why the landscape option still hasn't been utilized, for tablets, is beyond me.....

Same here with my Motorola Xoom running Jelly Bean, if the menus would work in landscape mode that will take care of my only issue so far. Having to change the orientation of my tablet to navigate to a show is a bit ridiculous.

currently most tablets are running mostly JB and their feature phablet.... mostly remade off ICS to run in landscape.... but if you have a good launcher most of the times you can turn back to portrait.... nova/apex/adw/ and sometimes go will work... if anything I have an apk for another launcher called launcher 2.. seems to work with most. unless you use trebuchet. but my apk for that has long been deleted... you might find it in XDA-developers.com

Well it's not the problem of the launchers (I use ADWLauncher EX & love it) you use per se, rather than how CR has its app coded. That's what I meant--w/ more tablet usage on the rise, I just find it perplexing such a ability hasn't been implemented in this app yet....

It is new coding if its done right, though, since just laying the series lineups the same way is fewer series shown in portrait and a lot of white space on the right half of the screen ... it would need at least a two column lineup to have anywhere near the same number of series showing on screen as in portrait mode.
