I use the nexus 4 and I think the quality is pretty bad as well. HD would be highly appreciated, especially since I'm planning on getting a nexus 10 soon too. Also, since the nexus 4 has on screen buttons, it would be awesome if you could do the same thing as the YouTube and Netflix apps and make it where the on screen buttons disappear when watching a video. That's the main thing holding me back from using this on my phone.

Positive Feedback:

4.3" Android 2.3 gameplayer, Sybor YTJ-91
CPU: AMLogic 8726-M3, ARM Cortex-A9, 800MHz;
GPU: Mali 400 Operation System: Android 2.3

Doesn't come with GooglePlay, but does come with apk installer, so installed GetJar and 1Mobile app stores (could have installed Amazon, but I didn't want to give them my credit card number). Both the very old (old logo, pre-queue) app at GetJar and the newer (0.7.8) app at 1Mobile work fine.

At ~$70 on ebay and amazon, its a fine fairly cheap pocketable WiFi streaming video player & ebook reader. And of course playing retro games, which is what this fake-PSP lookalike was made for. Low res screen, 480x270, so HD isn't an issue ~ they make 5" 480p versions, but you get what you pay for.

Also plays the Viki, Funimation Free and Netflix streaming video apps fine (video on the Netflix app starts fuzzy and then improves as adaptive resolution kicks in).

Thanks for that. Though if I urgently wanted the most recent CR version, I'd email CR for the apk and install it with the bundled apk installer. I've been generally happy with the app ever since they added the queue.

I wouldn't want to root the device, since then the Flixster app won't download Ultraviolet movies to the device. And being able to use it away from WiFi without resorting to bootleg material is a big part of the attraction, to me.

In the "I INSIST ON IT" sense, or in the "I'd pay good money for that!" sense?

CR has already said they are working on rolling HD out for their devices that would benefit from it. It's come out first on the PS3, then on the XBox. I'd expect it on the Roku channel and iOS app next, and the Android app after that.

Developing for the Android app is trickier than developing for the iOS app, because the Android marketplace is such a zoo of video resolutions, CPU's and GPU's, while Amazon has a very small set of screen resolutions and a quite sanely upwardly compatible collection of CPU's and GPU's. So it would be surprising if the Android app was upgraded to adaptive 480p/720p before the iOS app.

One way to avoid breaking existing hardware that would not benefit from 720p while they are working on rolling out the HD for Android is to bring out a Crunchyroll HD app, and make the 480p-only one Crunchyroll-lite.

What kind of phone do you have?
What OS is it running?

I have an older phone, but it still runs the app.

Samsung Intercept
Android 2.2.2
And I have the latest update of the app.

Thing is, two updates ago, I had no issues with this app. Is it possible that the Midroll ads are what is causing me issues? I've heard from other users that have an older OS that the function of midroll ads can cause a lot of issues because the older OS's have trouble running it. I mean, I'm kinda tight financially speaking right due to the christmas rush. But after January, I plan on getting my HTC Evo 4G fixed. I'm just concerned that when I go back to my HTC, I'll continue to have issues. If you can help me understand what's going on, or even fix these issues, I'll definitely renew my membership.

Btw, what Codecs does your app service use? If necessary, I'll just root my phone so I can install the required codecs if that's what's causing the issue here.

Can't speak for him, but I'm already a paying Premium member - and I'd pay a slight additional fee for a 1080p app. Maybe an extra dollar or two a month on top of the base fee.

I doubt most people would be willing to pay extra though.

I wouldn't, naturally, given that neither of my Androids could use it. Though even if I had a Nook HD+ with 1920x1280 resolution, I reckon 720p would be good enough, and 720p would be definitely good enough for my Roku, since its a 720p LCD television its hooked up to.

Midrolls have been turned off for Samsung devices, at least I believe they have. I'll have to check with the engineers when they get in.
Will also ask about the codecs too.

720 or 1080, I just assume if they did the app for 720 they could do it for 1080 as well, having both choices. Nexus 10 has a 2560 x 1600 resolution so I know that wouldn't be a limitation for me. I use 1080 when viewing on my PC as well, which is here I do most of my viewing.

They do have to balance how many new encodes they do. AFAIU they had to do a new encode for the PS3 480p to overcome their teething pains with the app. If they had to do the same with the 720p when they rolled out adaptive resolution for the PS3, it would mean that new episod has to be encoded in 360p, 480p-web, 480p-console, 720p-web, 720p-console, and 1080p-web.

I think its reasonable to out 720p to all the devices that may benefit from it first before looking at rolling out 1080p on devices, especially since not all series benefit from the step up from 720p to 1080p.

I love the HQ resolution on my Samsung Galaxy S3 4G. But there needs to be an option that allows for lower quality videos! I'm from Australia and I want to use this on the go. But I only get a GB a month. 40 minutes of video uses 400MB please add this option.

But other than that. I love the app!

I just had to switch from Windows 7.5 against my will, and I downloaded this app as a free user for the Galaxy 3 (Sprint). I've seen that I'm not the only one with the issue that it crashes after the first ad, is there an ETA on a fix? From what I've seen in reviews is that this issue is about a month old already.

I've reported this before by contacting support several months ago, but the issue persists... I am unable to play through an entire video because the playback errors out maybe every 5-6 minutes or so. When this happens, the only way to resume playback is to quit the app entirely and restart it. I am using an HTC inspire 4g running gingerbread, and have tried both WiFi and a network connection to no avail. In fact, I think its gotten worse, as it used to play through the end after only one error, but now it happens repeatedly.

I am extremely frustrated as I'm paying for premium service and the major reason for doing so is to be able to watch on my phone. I occasionally use the PS3 app, but not nearly as much as the mobile app (or at least, as much as I WOULD use it, if it worked).

When I originally reported this I was told a work ticket would be opened to investigate the issue, but as far as I can tell nothing has changed. Is there any ETA on a fix? If this keeps up I'm seriously considering dropping my premium account, which would suck because I love the service otherwise

Just some points:
1. When selecting a show on the Android App, can it only be done in Portrait and not Landscape?
2. Is there no search function on the App rather than having to scroll the shows manually?
3. When visiting the website on Android it loads the "mini" site, but when selecting the option to view the "full" site, it prompts to download the App and then takes you back to the "mini" site.
4. When on the "full" site on Android, and logged in as a premium member, the are advertisements.
5. On the 'help' screen of the App, it says to press a button to open up a menu, but not all Android tablets have physical buttons and have replaced them with controls on the screen.
6. Finally when trying to enter this post on said Android device, after pressing the "Post Reply" button. A message prompting that I must verify my e-mail address before I can post appeared. But the e-mail address prompted is an address I have not used in about a year and is no longer registered to my account.
