I'm pretty sure that I've said it before, but yes... we're working on bring HD to Android.
No release date for when this will be available.

I'll pass your suggestion on hiding soft keys to the engineers.

Hard to tell, and due to my general lack of time I couldn't really do a more thorough search other than "720p", so if you did say so, I'll take your word for it

I'm just surprised that there doesn't seem to be any sort of response in the Google Play store to any of the comments that have been made, since I know Google has recently let devs post replies.

My recent finding's with the latest APK... I have noticed if I quit playing a show what happens is I got directly back to the home page

when before it used to bring me back to the queue page. I'm not sure if its just me or is this happening to everyone.... or did they leave the linkage between video and queue out of this latest APK?

Just saying.... I have watched a few episodes since then from various different shows... and every time I back out after the show is done I go immediately to the home page instead of the queue.... I finding it a little bit irritating... sorry

Hello! Two issues, fairly related. First, most of the ads on the Crunchyroll Android app work fine. Crunchyroll's own ad, however, always breaks about halfway through. ALWAYS. Most of the time I can just click back and it'll load a different ad so I can watch my chosen episode. Sometimes, though, it will try to load the Free Trial ad a dozen times in a row or more, meaning I can't continue watching. It's not an issue with my (admittedly terrible) internet connection--the ad breaks even on high-speed networks that load the episodes instantly.

So, you ask, why don't I just pay for a Premium membership to get rid of the ads? Basically, my connection is terrible. It takes upwards of an hour to load even the 360p videos; I shudder to think how long it would take if it tried to run in HD. In short, I don't want to pay so that I can wait even longer to watch each episode (even if it is prettier). I'd gladly pay a smaller monthly fee for ad-free anime, but I neither need nor want HD functionality at the moment. If this became a subscriber option you'd surely be getting my money.

FYI, currently the Android app doesn't offer HD. The last I read, it still maxes out at 360p, much to the frustration of HD-capable Android tablet owners (and those with larger HD-capable Android phones and sharp eyes).

I actually own a Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 - the 360p graphics suit me just fine. Still, would be nice to not be paying for the HD portion of the subscription benefits.

Last I looked, the GetJar app is also quite different from the one in GooglePlay and in the 1mobile market, since its a version that is over a year very old ~ old Crunchyroll icon, no queue, etc.

For people looking for secondary 3rd party app stores for devices without GooglePlay access, the 1mobile market is the one I would recommend. Its the one I used to get the Crunchyroll app on my cheap 4.3" screen Android player.

1mobile has a much more current version of Crunchyroll. It also has the Nook app that the Amazon market leaves out (for obvious reasons), for people who may have manga in the Nook Comics format.

Hard to do that ~ they didn't increase the subscription price when they added HD content.

Indeed, if the HD content helped attract an appreciable share of current Crunchyroll subscribers, the HD would actually be helping to keep the subscription price down. After all, its still the same monthly membership that it was when we were getting six to ten anime simulcasts a season ...

... however, "Its not for me right now" is a plenty good reason for being a free member rather than a subscriber ... you don't need to justify not getting a Premium membership.

Free members are an important part of the Crunchyroll community, and because free members still provide demographic info when they watch ad-supported anime, are a part of Crunchyroll being able to get as many anime as they do. And And giving ad-supported members a good experience is an important part of attracting new subscribers ~ even if its people they tell about Crunchyroll rather than subscribing themselves.

While its hardest with Android, because there are so many different screen sizes, memory sizes, main processors, video coprocessors and OEM-modified Android versions that can cause problems ... getting Crunchyroll's own ad encoded so that it doesn't cause problems on the apps and various devices is surely something they are going to try to fix.

The Crunchyroll app stopped working on the Samsung galaxy note II!

Everything was great until recently. Now I only hear the audio of a video and cannot see the video. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, but the problem remained.

please fix asap.

Hello, at least for the past two weeks with the android app on both my Nexus 7 and Samsung phone, shows like Naruto and other newer released anime have been unavailable until a week has passed, but they are available on the website. When I try to play one of the newer episodes it only says the video is still being prepared. Is this some kind of licensing agreement, bug, or something else?

It's probably just not updating the available list of shows.

Try logging out and logging back in. That should make them work!
