I only played tales of graces and pre ordered tales of xillia but judging from these posts I might get tales of vesperia and abyss

I only played Vesperia and Symphonia.
I'd have to say that i liked Vesperia the best, despite some issues with the story. I just really liked the characters and the chemistry they had with each other.

tales of vesperia,i loved yuri's personality
usually the main chars are people like flynn all full of duty and honor and goodness =_= compared to that he kept things interesting

Abyss would have to be my favourite overall. There hasn't been a Tales game I haven't liked though. Heck I even thought Legendia was a lot of fun to play through.
