I loved those movies! We went to Disney World like 5 times when I was growing up.

Beauty and the Beast, Lady and the Tramp, Mulan -- for the animation

Newsies (with a very young Christian Bail), In Search of the Castaways (a little known gem), The Parent Trap (the old one), Candlewick (early Jodie Foster) -- for live action

Sometimes, when I wanna see girly girls and kids dancing, I watch the Disney channel. The shows make me feel like life is always fun and the girls still make me jealous. Brings back great memories from childhood. :)

But I do like the semi-new show, 'Good Luck Charlie.' The main character is still undeniably beautiful but she's sarcastic (not overly sarcastic like Alex from Wizards) and she let out a crazy belch in front of millions of people which is an automatic win. Plus, her face doesn't scream 'girly and stupid' and she isn't incredibly overrated at the moment.

<< Bridgit Mendler aka 'Teddy' on the show.

I had a High School teacher who totally hated Disney...she always told us that it objectifies women, she even made us write an essay paper on what we thought about Disney. I really don't see it though, sure the Princess always get saved by the Prince for the most part but isn't that the main point of the story? Anyways my favorite Disney movie is probably the Lion King.

lol....just thought i'd share this image...

I know I'll most likely be flamed for this, but I have to side with your teacher on this one.
Disney has been criticized for this for a long time: projecting misogynistic imagery to children and getting away with it because they've raised several generations on their propaganda. There was even a documentary made about this paradigm: Mickey Mouse Monopoly, which I have only seen clips of so far.
Another thing that needs to be kept in mind is not only the problem of teaching children unacceptable values, but outright thievery to meet that end. As many people know, The Lion King was a direct ripoff of Osamu Tezuka's Jungle Emperor series, broadcast as Kimba the White Lion in the United States. Disney tried to cover their tracks by claiming they had never heard of the series until after the film was released, but there's a HUGE body of evidence that debunks this claim (since we're not allowed to embed links: http://www.kimbawlion.com/rant2.htm). Later, they stole backgrounds from Castle in the Sky and character designs from Nadia for Atlantis. Again, they pulled the "we had no idea" card. And to add more crap onto the pile, they were later discovered to have stolen scripts for some of their other movies (once again, proof: http://pr-gb.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1306&Itemid=35 ).
Needless to say, I have permanently and irrevocably withdrawn my support for Disney, along with Studio Ghibli. I will never again pay money to view, rent or purchase any product under their umbrella. I feel they are a bad influence on children and adults alike, and if I am ever able to have kids they will NEVER be allowed any exposure to Disney.
