Disney is cool, Mulan is the best :]

"I'll Make a Man Out of You" is definitely one of the most epic Disney songs ever

I bet a lot of people here can say they know this song and have friends who know and love to break out into this song

I consider it borderline classic since it's a 2D musical, so i'll say Mulan is my favorite Disney classic

and

UP (disney-pixar) is equal, but I love it for Dug and it's just a masterpiece, idk how else to say it

EDIT

and so yeah, all you who say they hate disney now, don't forget that Pixar was acquired by Disney, and they make some serious stuff, so there is hope yet--

Mulan if it's strictly Disney. With Pixar/Disney, definitely The Incredibles.

That's all I've got.

What's wrong with Studio Ghibli? =[

I thought they had plenty of female heroines in their movies--

although, I'll be honest I havent' seen all the ghibli films (so far Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, My Neighbor Totoro, and Ponyo--)

Yet, I can agree with you on some of the Disney stuff
(HOWEVER-- I think Mulan breaks that trend-- I can see how people might say it doesn't since she's having to assume the guise of a male to accomplish what she did, but I think it's about what she proves and disproves in the end after she's found out)

My favorite Disney movie is Alice In Wonderland. It is quite bizarre and it draws you out. It feels like you are walking through a nightmare. I love the atmosphere. Then, you got the queen of hearts with off with your head ahhhhhh so many memories :),They don't make them like this anymore.

I have lost all respect for Hayao Miyazaki. He claims to be super-revolutionary, yet he still sold out to the Disney juggernaut RIGHT AFTER they stole from him. On top of this, he fought to keep them from visually editing the Ghibli movies yet he let them water down/destroy the plots. Unforgivable.

Oliver and Company <3 Tito! // Mulan // Aladdin // Emperor's New Groove // Lilo & Stitch // Treasure Planet // those pirates ones with Johnny Depp // The Fox and the Hound // Bambi // Lion King // ..ok there's more but I'll get to them later.

These are in no particular order, but can I say about my other favorite non- Disney movies?

I don't like Disney because of 101 Dalmatians.

Walt Disney made Cruella Deville look evil.

She was just trying to make a living by selling dalmatian furs.

I had a High School teacher who totally hated Disney...she always told us that it objectifies women, she even made us write an essay paper on what we thought about Disney. I really don't see it though, sure the Princess always get saved by the Prince for the most part but isn't that the main point of the story? Anyways my favorite Disney movie is probably the Lion King.

lol....just thought i'd share this image...

I know I'll most likely be flamed for this, but I have to side with your teacher on this one.
Disney has been criticized for this for a long time: projecting misogynistic imagery to children and getting away with it because they've raised several generations on their propaganda. There was even a documentary made about this paradigm: Mickey Mouse Monopoly, which I have only seen clips of so far.
Another thing that needs to be kept in mind is not only the problem of teaching children unacceptable values, but outright thievery to meet that end. As many people know, The Lion King was a direct ripoff of Osamu Tezuka's Jungle Emperor series, broadcast as Kimba the White Lion in the United States. Disney tried to cover their tracks by claiming they had never heard of the series until after the film was released, but there's a HUGE body of evidence that debunks this claim (since we're not allowed to embed links: http://www.kimbawlion.com/rant2.htm). Later, they stole backgrounds from Castle in the Sky and character designs from Nadia for Atlantis. Again, they pulled the "we had no idea" card. And to add more crap onto the pile, they were later discovered to have stolen scripts for some of their other movies (once again, proof: http://pr-gb.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1306&Itemid=35 ).
Needless to say, I have permanently and irrevocably withdrawn my support for Disney, along with Studio Ghibli. I will never again pay money to view, rent or purchase any product under their umbrella. I feel they are a bad influence on children and adults alike, and if I am ever able to have kids they will NEVER be allowed any exposure to Disney.

Mr. Walt Disney did not steal his creations. The majority of the movies, ie Snow White, Cinderella, and Sleeping Beauty were all written and produced in a time that women were house wives and didn't work. You have to look at the years in which movies were made to understand why some parts were written they way they were. I do not believe women are weak and need a man to save them, but these movies are drawn and animated before most of your parents were in school!
