I really don't understand how so many of you are "born-again" christians at your young age. Then again, whatever, I don't really care.

azrael, I understand if you have differing opinions on certain topics, but what you said is flaming, and flamebaiting. Please revise that attitude. I'm telling you as a reminder. Wouldn't like to start throwing out warnings and all.

@edsamac

how would you know if god is really there?
the bible?
i dont have anything wrong with christians,
but some of u guys rly have a fucking irritating hollier than thou attitude
and i dont really appreciate being told all the time that im going to hell if i dont go to church

I return the question to you. How can you be entirely sure that God does not exist? We're talking about something that does not exist physically. We can go through all the phenomenological evidence you want to prove or disprove the existence of God, but in the end, we're toying around with what C. S. Lewis described as "probability" (of the undeniable truth of a certain possibility of the existence or non-existence of a divine entity). With moral pressure, one is dissuaded from disbelief to a more positive view of possible salvation through a divine cause. The problem with this view, however, is that it seems that people believe in God simply to be saved ~ but in the end, religion is more than belief, and extends towards faith, as I have mentioned in previous entries.

So my point is, no one can really prove if God truly exists or not. So in the end, it's personal belief. I respect your views, but please respect our views also. I'd like to converse more with you about our beliefs, but saying "fuck God" or whatever harsh talk does little in our understanding of one another's beliefs. Resepct is in the order. :)

EDIT:
Oh, and I do not believe that if you are non-Christian, you are going to hell. Religious conviction I believe is synonymous to moral conviction. My honest opinion is that no one can judge who goes to heaven and who goes to hell. Even I have my doubts that morally righteous people go straight to heaven. Much of the "sin" in this world is more than simply what we do, but things we do not do. I remember the reading in Matthew of the final judgement, where God separated the goats from the sheep. The goats were self righteous, but it was not in what they did that damned them, but in what they didn't do.

In the end, No on should judge anyone whatsoever. Before you judge someone, judge yourself... that's an age old saying. In short, don't judge. To all those who do, please look at yourself and think who the hell you are to say who will go to heaven and who would not. To condemn another human being to hell instead of finding a way to help them realize themselves as human beings, to find avenues where they can grow as individuals, be it thought Christianity or though other religions, is much better than that.

That's a decent statement Edsamac, if I boil my personal belief's right down it come down to the fact that I simply do not need to believe in something that may or not be there, that may or may not be an omnipotent and benevolent creator of all. It is much the same issue I have against the notion of 'spirituality'. I require not the ineffable to function, and until I am forced to accept it as something that does in fact affect me, whether through absolute proof, or logical reasoning I shall remain an atheist, I'm not one to hedge my bets so to speak:)

I want to make it quite clear that I do not by any means look down upon those who believe, some of my greatest friends have been christians, and christians to whom theological debate was an enjoyable and worthwhile activity. I find I am angered more by the moronic statements of "Ur so stupid god doesn't exist lol" and the (I guess you would call it un-)holier than thou attitudes of certain atheists than I am of much of christianity.

After your edit however there is one thing I would argue, 'judging' someone is a vital human trait, one which permeates every aspect of social situations. If we were not to judge anything we would remain completely apathetic to everything, judgement is a good thing. However it must always be re-membered that you can mis-judge something, and readily accept the notion that you can change your opinion.

^third paragraph^

yup. you become apathetic ^__^
that's how i was atleast =)
now though.. i don't know =/

i guess i am still partially apathetic..
but after years of being like that.. i seriously can't judge anyone anymore
what goes on in my mind though when i was/am suppose to judge someone is
"eh, whatever.. their choice"
and i'm always bored. why is that?

wow....looks like the discussions here is getting DEEP...
well i nly left a little long but well i kinda learn a lot edsamac..(i read every post since i posted)

ummm....
cocky: well i think that when you judge someone you should try to look at yourself before you judge cause if you judge someone that you yourself has that trait.. well the person you judge will say "your judging me when you yourself is also like that.."
or something....
so i think it's what edsamac mean.. cause that's what i kinda understand...

edsamac??

Well no. I don't even feel like I want to be in religions anymore. I guess I have my own view on how life works. Not to mention that religions were created by a man themselves, created as how they see life. It's just that they had different opinions, so they had different religion. I don't know which one is real, but I have no intention of finding out.

I have two counsins who used to be Catholics though, but they changed to Christian and I saw them changed as a complete different people. They often invite me in, but I never understood why they cry when praying, they said it's a Holy Ghost or something. Well, like I said, I have no intention of finding out. lol
