By saying that faith leads to good works, you are still saying that good works are required. When I say that good works are required, I do not mean to replace faith, only in addition too.

When people see it as, "All I have to do is love God," they get comfortable and start commiting sinful acts. Have you ever read White Oleander? Where the 1st mom is convinced she is going to heaven, but commits adulty daily? That's where it just becomes confusing.

i think its time for me,since there seems to be nobody out there to have a proper discussion.i mean why do religious people dont know about luther, why protestans and catholics are both christians, that catholics think they eat jesus when they have mass, didnt red the bible, have no clue about what they believe in and dont have the courage to have a real discussion on religion?its just sad, that so many people believe in something they cant explain, defend, discuss about.maybe i expected more,i red and thought more when i was 12-18 but maybe thats not the average.i hope there will be someday someone who can discuss this subject in a proper way(feel free to pm me)

I'm not being sarcastic. I belong to a non-denominational church.
I don't even know what the sacramants are.

the trick is the golden rule... if you love everyone... it pretty much makes it difficult to commit hte average sin... the reason sins are sins are caus they hurt others...sometimess they just hurt you..i think those are called venial... i might have that messed up but ithink thats it...still.. thier a minute things that i screw up each day just about... but ............im tired of this conversation... i need to have a coke break...cocacola.. but anyways.. im actually rather soft... i wana get along.. and to be honost... part of the reason i say what i say is...everyone being in the catholic church wether it was orthodox or roman or the jeruselum one.. they would all be catholic... catholic meaning universal ... and we could all just be happy and have an idea of where the line is.... of course kids would still fight... people would still screw up... and i would proly be even more idiotic at times... but eh....

oh... seriously though... you keep going on about faith....but perhaps you should consider actually reading a few catholic books on the subject... how can they be wrong? i mean i havent read them... but they tend to carry alota history and history is our families pasts... just a side note.......really try to also find a copy of the pieta prayer book on the internet and try to find some prayers you liek.. and get a scapular.. its good stuff... it helps strenthen the soul.... a little flavor to your prayers may be a good thing try it

My church has communion, anointing of the sick, matrimony and baptism. (I'm assuming matrimony means marriage, right?)

I don't know what reconciliation, or confirmation is all about, although I've heard of confirmation.

I know the major difference between baptism in my church is that we choose to get baptised as a choice to obey God, rather then being baptised as a baby, which is why I was baptised when I was twelve. I wanted to obey God, so it was my step of faith.

Baptism is our parents saying they will raise us Christian. Confirmation is when we make the decision to become Catholic for ourselves. For people who switch to the church later on in life, baptism and confirmation are one.

We have something like that then, it's called baby dedication. Parents choose to dedicate their babies to say they'll raise them Christian. We have baptism because God said we should get baptised, and it's a step of obediance that supposed to be made by the believer him/herself.

Don't think of it as a replacment for the Holy Spirit.

Example, I am left winged, but I listen to conservative radio to remind me why I believe what I do. It prepares me to know how other people think, and their views can strengthen my own.

The prayers are not even against what you believe, they are there to strengthen your love and holy spirit. Don't simply shrugg this off, or the whole religion will become a phase. I went through that when I was in a catholic school, and only truly started believing when I searched for religion on my own. Open up your mind.

I was talking about the scapular, not the prayers, lol.

Actually, I search for religion on my own constantly. I choose to attend Sunday School, Bible Study, Youth Group weekly. A lot think I'm crazy because I go to church twice a day on my own church. I love learning about God, I'm choosing to go to a christian college after I graduate, I attend a public school right now.

I'm opening my mind to Christ, I want to learn more and more about Him, because I love getting to know Him. I wasn't protesting to the prayers, just to the scapular.
