NOTE: If you think this is a topic that should not be discussed, is repeated, or just simply talked about already please PM me and report it.

I got this idea from a group I'm in that talks about this, not stating the particular group, there are graphic stealers on crunchyroll. It really ticks people off when, excluding the pictures being used for a moment. Think about the background of the graphic. The creator has to take time and think about it before making a background. Then, suddenly someone takes that same background and put their name on it. I don't like to steal work so I try to put credits on everything or at least state it somewhere. Does crunchyroll have a rule on this or I just skipped over it in the rules?

NOTE: To all you stealers that if you do take the graphics and edit it out it's plagiarism! I'm sorry if this is really a pain to all of you but really just don't do it.

That is why the artist must make sure to watermark all of their work

This is a problem crunchyroll can't really solve alone since this is the internet. The most people do when it comes to graphics and stuff, they put their name on their work & tell their friends so they'll know who did the work and everything. I think you can alert the mods, I'm not sure sorry, but you have to put your name on your work so others would know who did it first.

To be honest, this is how I see it, though I could be wrong:

Originally, the pictures do not belong to you to begin with. 9/10 the pictures were either taken from an image search or another photo sharing community, re-edited, cut, and pasted along with other flashy things using Photoshop or some other picture editing software. Some people also try to put a copyright signature on their graphics that in actuality, weren't even there's to begin with, but were created by an original artist.

It really ticks people off that they spent their time on a graphic to put on their profile/group/page and have it downloaded on someone else computer and the edited out the words to put their name on it.

Ironically, this is exactly what you're doing. You're taking another person's art and re-editing it, claiming it as yours when it really isn't.

Crunchyroll really doesn't have any rules on this apparent issue, but I have brought it up once with a group of Moderators, and so far it hasn't led to anything.

Unless you drew the picture or took the picture yourself it's not stealing but if it a picture you edited put your name on it.

My "Japan and Modernity" professor have explained to my classmates and me how Japanese animator would be so concern about people re-drawing their anime. In American, Corporations like Disney would send people law suit for re-drawing their animations in the public eye, which it would be consider infringement.

okay i will flat out say this did you draw the pic originally? did you put your hard work into it?? IF not shut the fuck up please you dumb fucks can not copyright work that has already been copyrighted all your doing is altering the work and guess what that is illegal to do with out the permission form the artist that did the work With the pass of the DMCA it is even illegal to download pics that are copyrighted now so yeah if you didn't draw the artwork, SHUT UP. I do fan-art and have little room to talk but I know what I am doing is illegal and guess what I don't give a fuck either . Here is something I drew, feel free to download it.

Well, yes but I'm talking about graphics that are created(if you understand what I'm implying.) not really the pictures used.

you are pissing the point it does matter if you your name on the work or not, it is not your work. If you did not draw a pic for your avi/take the time to make it then stop complaining. any moron with a 4th grade eduction can make a graphic online if you want sympathy or compassion then I am sorry. I hate to break it to you but do to know new copyright laws you are breaking ingriments but altering pics with graphics and backgrounds but as I have stated before i do not care about that but you might in the long run. YOU CAN NOT COPYRIGHT SOMETHING THAT IS ALREADY COPYRIGHTED.

No, I'm unable to understand what you're implying. What do you mean by "created."

Okay, exclude the pictures being used for a moment. Think about the background of the graphic. The creator has to take time and think about it before making it. Then, suddenly someone takes that same background and put their name on it. (Is this clear? I'm not a 100% sure if this is clear.)

I'm just simply stating "Please refrain from using foul language I wish not to start an argument just a discussion." Not really disagreeing with you. I'm sorry if that reply implied I wanted sympathy or compassion or just complaining.

So the background is original, but the picture isn't?
