Graphics Stealing

I understand what are you talking about "YOU CAN NOT COPYRIGHT SOMETHING THAT IS ALREADY COPYRIGHT", and the law suit would be infringement. People download pictures more, because it is flowing all around the internet, so it is norm now. Even though this norm is illegal, in America have higher chance of law suits with animation corporations there.

funimation really can't do anything about it they just licensee the series to sell it would have to be a international thing and believe me japan has more problems right with illegal downloads that pics floating around and again this is weird coming from some guy that has an external hard drive full of anime... but yeah. On the subject of doujins that is japan's problem and well most anime producers/mangaka's started out this way so they tend to look the other way.

I'm just simply stating "Please refrain from using foul language I wish not to start an argument just a discussion." Not really disagreeing with you. I'm sorry if that reply implied I wanted sympathy or compassion or just complaining.

you didn't even read what I had to type did you? Takes a deep breath, no-one really cares be honest with you, I am done with this thread since I do not want it to escalate to trolling/flaming.

why you gotta be such a dick fucking chill out troll

This person has a point here. If I made graphics with photo-shop or illustrator entirely , (and I have done so, mostly with photoshop) and someone stole it and claimed it as theirs I'd be pretty pissed off too

I wasn't trying to be dick I was really in a pissy mood and well some people just don't seem understand about this, I somewhat understand making the backgrounds and so forth but when I 1st started using avatars there wasn't this huge option around. You either selected from a limited pic library or had to make your own from the ground up.

I don't think there's any rule on this because graphics are so easily accessed through the internet. If you don't want someone stealing your stuff make sure you watermark your work before posting it. If you can take the many hours in making that design you can take a few more seconds to put your watermark on it. This kind of thing doesn't just happen on crunchy roll it happens everywhere and even though it will annoy and even piss you off it can't be stopped. Most people don't even do it to take credit, they just use it because they like it. Those that take the designs and redistribute them as their own are a little more annoying. The only solution to this is really to watermark or you can even contact the person that you believe stole your art ^_^;

This is the internet, people. If you make it accessible, people will take it. Deal with it. If you don't want people taking 'your' images, stamp your name all over them like I do with mine. Geez. The look but don't touch, touch but don't taste, taste but don't swallow routine gets old real fast.

To be honest, this is how I see it, though I could be wrong:

Originally, the pictures do not belong to you to begin with. 9/10 the pictures were either taken from an image search or another photo sharing community, re-edited, cut, and pasted along with other flashy things using Photoshop or some other picture editing software. Some people also try to put a copyright signature on their graphics that in actuality, weren't even there's to begin with, but were created by an original artist.
Its a fine line isn't it. A lot of what this top post said is pretty accurate for a lot of work done online.

Fanworks done tastefully like from [MAD] which parodies itself is enjoyable. Also a lot of mangas, movies or animes nowadays are similars to past manga, movies or animes. If you look at old mangas you notice that most of them, the heroines look the same, if you look now, you can see some mangas with similar looking heroes, D Gray man, Hayate No Gotoku or Tegami Bachi.

Then there is BLATANT plagiarism, recently, Gene Simmons', son of rockband lead singer KISS, Nick Simmons was found to have copied several of Bleach manga designs only to apply cosmetic changes (same character design but different hair colour or clothes) and sold them as a comic book Incarnate.

Originality will still be appreciated and its good to learn from past materials and incorporate aspects of it to ones work, but its also important that these are incorporated into something original and different rather than a bland copy of it.

Nothing which is annoying.

Shit happens.Plus once something is on the net it's likely that someone will steal it.

There's really no way to stop it. People are lazy, they'll take what they can find. This is coming from someone who knows how to make graphics. I used to make avatars and graphic stuff with photoshop cs4. But I stopped, it's too time consuming. Even if someone takes something that I edited, I wouldn't mind.

well time 2 add my opinion 2 this. ^^ every single thing is a stolen idea. human beings cant create something new. they can only put together shapes they have seen before and fuse it with other things they saw and learned. Its impossible to create a new shape isn't it :)?
even scribbles are just a mix of lines curved or not. ideas as well just things we learned and edited within our small infinitely massive minds. ^^

i always put my deviantart account on my drawings meaning that it belongs to me.
Posted 9/3/10
well it happens all the time... and then again if the creator don't want anything to get stolen then they shouldn't put it in the internet or show it to ppl
