I'm really disappointed that Bleach will be on this website. I was really upset when Naruto Shippuden was put here and now Bleach will be ruined, too. I look forward to the days when I can watch my favorite shows through a great fansubbing site where the translation is accurate and hasn't been altered due to censoring. I also look forward to watching my favorite shows without ridiculous advertisements halfway through, and without having to pay money to see the latest episode. These things have taken away from a great anime show, and now it will happen to Bleach, too. I wish more people would have not signed the petition to bring Bleach to Crunchyroll.

Decided to check back on this thread one more time before the first episode appears on this site.

While I would rather have dattebayo doing the subs(as part of crunchyroll, not offering their services for free) it is worth realising that the anime will not be "ruined" albeit would be a lower standard than DB subs for some. The anime itself will not fall because of Viz subs. I will grow tired of the use of some of their terms. I hate the use "Soul Reaper" as opposed to Shinigami or Death God but it will not greatly impact me watching the anime.

Crunchyroll obtaining bleach would worsen my viewing experience for reasons including that it is limited to my computer monitor and my even smaller iPhone screen. It would be great if they managed to secure an Xbox 360 or Wii app. But it is bearable. Many say they "ruined" naruto. While again most of us prefer DB subs to say a show has been ruined is to say that you have lost interest in it. Most of you are still watching these "ruined" shows, and enjoying them. Let's not exaggerate.

While I support Dattebayo, it's becoming increasingly obvious that the vast majority of the people posting are the leeches those who do not want to pay at all and claim they buy the DVDs (I do not doubt that some of you are being honest, but you also know many among you are just outright liars). I hardly notice the $7 leave my account every month, it isn't expensive. There's even a two week trial. Unless you have no access to your own funds being a kid (as it appears many here are) then you can just wait a week. This obviously doesn't apply to those who cannot view due to their region.

Wait isn't DB stil doing subs?

dattebayo announced they will cease bleach subs once cr started the subbing for bleach, dattebayo did the same thing for naruto.. dattebayo actually supports cr with it's legal subbing, datte even posted the petition on its website telling everyone that watches bleach to sign it so that it will be on cr, thats partly why i signed it too really, i meant to sign it before but never got around to it till db posted it..

Oh now i'm aware. Thanks for the information, I still think DB is pretty good at subbing the characters to match their personality. But thanks for the info (repped)

OK, some people are saying that DB is more "accurate" than Viz in their subtitling. But so far, what I get is that DB uses "spicier" language. This is not necessarily more correct since if the original is not equally "spicy" (using Japanese conventions), then it is NOT more accurate.

So, it sounds to me we need a "sub-off" Go get a VIZ-sub and compare it to a DB-sub, along with the original Japanese. Post it here or elsewhere, and we (or at least those who can translate) can debate which is "more correct".

Until we have an actual comparison, I am not going to put much weight into either side's claims about accuracy.

BTW, translation can also be a tricky thing when it comes to idioms and curse words. For example, I have been told that the word "bugger" is rather crude to use for a UK audience, but in the USA, it wouldn't be. And that's even with just English... So, how do you translate a word that in Japanese the literal meaning is nothing too special, but in English (or another language) is much stronger? Do you translate literally, or preserve the idiom/intent?

If you love Anime, I bet you want it to be correctly subbed, PG-13 will only dumb it down to a level where 5-year olds can relate to it, it's similar to sesame street and other cartoons on TV for children.
