you didn't elaborate on what you'd like to see/do while in Tokyo but walking around Asakusa is quite nice, though some parts are a bit touristy especially around Senso ji. but easy to pick up souvenirs in this area if you need to bring some home. another area to check out and i personally like is Shimo kitazawa where it's got cool shops, very funky and arty. good cafes. you mentioned going to Akihabara...if you have time, you can check out Ikebukuro and do a "comparison" of sorts -- Ikebukuro is where Otome Road is located and is known for female otakus hanging around and shopping at K-Books.

frankly speaking, anything you do on your holiday in Japan will be spectacular -- it's a wonderful country! enjoy your trip and good luck -

The places you should visit are:

Shibuya / Yoyogi / Meiji Jingu / Harajuku can all be done in a day or you can spend more time if something takes your fancy.
Ginza
Akiba
Asakusa
Roppongi (both on a Saturday night and during the day, crazy polarization)
Tsukiji (yummy fish)

Other places of interest are Shinjuku, the Den-en-toshi at 8am (was my train line for 1.5 years, busiest train line in the world), Ikebukoro, Yokohama city is always good fun for a bar or 3.

GO TO KIDDIE(kiddy kiddiy?) LAND!!! they have all kinds of stuff like Hello Kitty, Rillakuma(if you don't know what it is don't ask) (soo cute!),Totoro, etc. Go shopping at ichi maru kyuu, or 109 in Shibuya. If you like Disney, buy tickets to Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo Disneyland Sea (which is soo awesome.) If you go to Tokyo Disneyland Sea, definitely see Ariel's Cove and buy flavored popcorn in over 10 different flavors and there is a different plastic- refillable container for each flavor. (ex: strawberry popcorn has a Marie-Chan themed container) If your into futuristic things or just like to see SUPER DUPER COOL STUFF check out the Miraikan. Since I have only went to Tokyo once (and I am half Japanese) I do not know much stuff to see. DEFINITELY go to the Totoro tour i heard its AMAZING!! Hope this helped. Have fun on your trip! Bye!!!

Central Tokyo
Akihabara*
Ginza - Designer outlets are located here. Shopping is expensive (double to even triple the price they are in America) Only go here if you have loads of time and patience. Alice in Wonderland café is here.

Tokyo Dome City
Tsukishima
Nihonbashi
Marunochi
Western Tokyo
Shibuya
Shinjuku - Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden

Ikebukuro
Southern Tokyo
Odaiba - Man-made island with art deco buildings
Roppongi Hills
Roppongi - Promises the best nightlife.
Sengakuji Temple

Well it all depends on what you like
Shibuya district tends be more about shopping typically in "shibuya 109" where most most gyaru or fashion guys and girls tend to shop at, but it tends to be super expensive, keep in mind tokyo is one the most expensive cities in the world,
Harajuku district is for somebody who wants a little bit of everything and can always find something interesting there you can also sometime find some majorly cheap things there too just gotta look in the right places
There's also a ton electronic stores there
