Spiders are usefull. You'll have less other insects if there are spiders around.
I only get rid of the cobwebs if they annoy me.

 Watch them and if I see a really, really big one I'll capture it and show it to my Dad coz he loves insects. As long as the spider isn't crawling on me, I'll spare its life by not flicking it lol. Their pretty cool things, and their cobwebs after rain is a wonder of nature.
