So lets pretend that you get offered a lot of money to be a gold farmer on the MMO of your choice. You decide to take the position. It is a standard job, you come in 5 days week and work 8 hours a day and go home. How do you think that would affect your view of gaming?

For me I am not 100% sure, one side of me says it would not affect me. After all I am not really an MMO player. I prefer normal offline games. So it would just be an excuse to play an MMO and get paid... because I often times feel like MMOs are not worth playing unless I am making money. Then there is the part of me that says I would want to do something else. I have always loved gaming. However, there have been a lot of times when I just put down the controller and do not play for a month. Because I get fed up with playing.. it is weird.

How do you think such a job would affect you?

This is not a are they good or bad thread. Please do not talk about that here.

Yes, it would completely change my outlook. Doing something that is meant to be fun, such as games, then turning it to a mundane, high value chore doesn't sound all too great.

I have been a gold farmer for the past 8 years. I still play games in my spare time. It does not bother me that I am playing a game as my source of income, though I generally do not play MMO games otherwise.
