And anyone outside of NA, sorry but sites like CR can't make the earth flat just for you, be glad someone even tries like they do. You have no idea how the world of media marketing works, not that i have much of a clue either, but its pretty simple that Media rights holders want to make money for every city, muchless country their shows are aired in. he internet is new and SCARY for them, and alot of people think the internet is a huge mega cash machine so want alot of money for internet usage rights... therein lies the problem. Write some letters to your television station / cable providers, send mail to TV Tokyo and such and YES ZOMG they read english.

Just so I get this right what you just said. You are telling me that I should be "glad" that I give them my money and get pretty much little to none for it? And oh wait since I should be glad I prolly should punish myself for even thinking about complaining right? You actually can't be serious about that right. Make the world flat just for us? You are joking right? Of course every company wants to make as much money (besides those view that have certain business models) as they possibly can. And I do also get that they not want everyone to watch their shows for free. But for that reason there is a membership here. I do pay them money so I am able to watch their shows. I and many others do that and still don't get to see that much more than if we would be free members due to those region locks. HD isn't really that much of an argument anymore those days. And unless you are not completely impatient, waiting one week to see them really ain't that hard. So all thats left is the shows. From the last 8 new shows I olny been able to watch 2 of them even so I pay just as much as everyone else?

So eigther they should start making sure that all the shows are available for at least those that do pay a membership, no matter if it is region locked or not. Or they should take less from those that that do get less shows even with their membership. Eigther one would work for me and I would bet that a lot people outside NA would just think the same way about it.

There's no point in complaining about something neither you nor CR can control. Even if they did put up anime without these legal restrictions, they would probably be going againts their legal policy, which would be hypocritical. Its all about patience. If you don't believe you're getting your money's worth, than cancel your membership.

Thing is, isn't Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou a simulcast? They probably haven't even finished producing the uncensored cut when it starts streaming on CR.

Queen's Blade, OTOH, has been out on DVD in Japan for a long time, so MediaBlasters is free to pick which cut to upload for streaming.

Then let me use another example. Omamori Himari (love that anime) ...that was censored......and it has been out longer.

Well first off I'd like to say that my post was more against the way he put it and less against the oppinion he was stating. While you are right that I can not control it at all, CR sure can do so at least to a certain extend. After all it's them that is doing all the legal and contract negotiations with the publishers and rights holders or am I wrong with that? And even if they can't do much about the licensing, what they can control is their membership plans and how much money they take for it. Now this is just an example of course but why not making it so that you have 3 price model. Those that get less than 1/3 of all the shows (or it could be based on the membership olny shows if that would make things more easier to calculate) pay 3,50 a month, if you get less then 2/3 of the shows you pay 5 a month and everyone that gets more than 2/3 pay the full price. And since I do think it would be hard thing to do if you would need to change those prices on monthly base why not changing them season based. Like I said just an example.

And lets be honest. If you are running a business and you do get no complaints from you customers even so a lot of them would have a reason for doing so than it is extremely unlikely that you ever gonna change anything cause for you everything seems to be just fine. That said I think complaining is not pointless at all. As for me I do actually complain cause I do like CR and appreciate what they are trying to do. But even so I do appreciate it I am not blind to those things that are not going as good as they should/could be.

So, who uploaded it, and why do you reckon they decided to upload the censored version?

Its not as if Crunchyroll is doing the censoring, after all - its being done by the production studios in Japan (or sometimes by international license holders) for broadcast. Crunchyroll streams what the rights holders upload. So the question is, why the rights holder decided to upload that version?

For a simulcast, there is likely to be little choice - there is often not very much time between finishing an episode and the time it goes to air. Getting the uncensored cut finalized in time for a simulcast would often be impractical.

It seems that many but not all rights holders have been treating a Crunchyroll stream like a broadcast even when using older material. Or they may think that they get the most royalties if there are no Crunchyroll members who are age-blocked.

MediaBlasters, as an international licensor, might be looking at the market for subs as mostly killed off by bootleg subs, and may be using the sub stream in hopes of selling the hybrid release for those who actually prefer dubs. If that is their strategy, they may think the uncensored sub will attract more attention to their fan-service bonanza, and so sell more DVDs.
