Hey all,

I'm new here, so...hi!

I'm not your typical Anime watcher. I really do love anime but I don't get too deep into it like reading the manga or memorizing/paying lots of attention to the intros and ending themes and those sort of things.
I'll watch something and as much connected to it as possible, and that's that.
I really like story/real stories and the content for so than maybe how much blood, gore or romance/etc. is in an anime series. For example, many complain that bleach is too long etc. but there's a solid 'story' behind the 'endless' battles - even if the arcs are drawn out a bit, so it's something that I came to like, quickly.
That being said, my faves will probably be laughed at :), but please respect that that's just what I like.
I'm a bit overwhelmed by the choices, but would really like to watch stuff that I've 'missed' in reference to what's out there that I don't know about.
So, I'm asking you all 'in-the-know'...anime demigods to recommend some shows from here and even stuff that's not on here....things I'll like based on my list.

Here's a list of series;

I love(d):

Ranma 1/2 (my first real anime series)
Inuyasha (one of my faves)
Blood+ (dark, but awesome)
Bleach
Claymore (dark, but great)
Trigun
Zatch Bell
Trinity Blood
Yu Yu Hakusho (one of my faves)

I like(d):

Kekkaishi
Fruits Basket
Cowboy Bebop
Fullmetal Alchemist
Samarai Champloo
Rurouni Kenshin
Steel Angel Karumi (currently watching) - it may graduate.
Cardcaptor Sakura/Cardcaptors
Sailor Moon (haven't even breached 1/2 way)

In limbo ('ok', neither like nor dislike):

Saiyuki
Drangonball/Z/etc.

what i don't like:

Naruto
One Piece

Special Mention:

Vampire Hunter D, not a series YET (till 2011, cross your fingers!), but I'm sure there are series like this I haven't found.
Hayao Miyazaki stuff. Love em' all.
___

I've 'finished' all of these except Zatch Bell, Samurai X, Fullmetal Alchemist and Sailor Moon.

Zatch I never finished because it stopped airing in the US. I'll be looking them up as I can.
Rurouni Kenshin because I was upset at the ending of Samurai X the Movie, but I will probably watch the rest of them soon enough.
Fullmetal Alchemist I did finish, but I never got into Brotherhood which I plan to.
Sailor Moon. I'm a guy...that being said, I liked Sailor Moon a lot as a kid when I watched it originally. Now however, it feels awfully 'girly'? if that makes any sense. Don't get me wrong I'm not at all against watching it (or guys watching it) but for me it's an odd 'fit' to get through the series. I'm not sure why, as I'm sure many people would consider Ranma 1/2 and Fruits Basket similar - but I just can't seem to sit down and take in Sailor Moon. Not only due to the overload of Girl Power but it also feels very Power Ranger-y as well. I said I'd never let my childhood fade away, but I guess it's happening. There's hope for me yet - I still like Zatch Bell! :)

An explanation of limbo and disliked stuff...
Naruto seems to have a recipe for what I like in an anime, but 10 eps. in I couldn't stand it....the ingredients are all wrong. I think initially it has to have been the voice acting because everything else is there. I watched it FIRST in English (which probably did the dirty deed?). I will attempt to watch it some time in the future.
One Piece I probably haven't given a chance. The drawing of the characters put me off and also, I guess I'm just not into pirate themed anime? For some reason it reminds me of Lupin which I hate so much I didn't add to that list.
Dragonball is a series I will probably end up watching, just not right now. What put me off DB at the time was the...I'm not sure how to put it, 'serious' silliness? of the very first series. Then with Z it just became too much...it seemed overdone. There were no small explosions, everything seemed planet threating and all the characters so extreme. I watched it for maybe 10 eps into the first and 10 or so into Z and I never watched again. Re-watching it however, I'm finding it way more bearable as I suppose I'm a bit more open now. Had I seen Bleach back then, it would probably have been back-benched too.

That's about it. If you can help, Thanks! If not, that's ok too. I ask sincerely, that you not take my likes/dislikes or anything I've said here personally. To each his own. They're simply my own preferences and opinions and they're not meant to upset anyone.

I look forward to hearing from you.

I recommend (I know you don't wanna hear this) going back and giving Naruto a second chance. I'm just saying that because more towards Shippuden it gets really exceptional in my opinion, and you may like it. Naruto was one of the first series I really liked, so, I guess that's why I think people should stick with it(:

ANYWHOOOO.

I'm really into Hetalia Axis Powers right now, you might find it interesting. Or try Black Cat(: I like the manga better though, but I pretty much adore the whole series. Ever seen D. Gray Man, Baka to Test, or Soul Eater? Try those too.

Goodluckkkk!
