What's up guys,

The World Cup kicked off today with some exciting matches: South Africa v. Mexico and France v. Uruguay, both ending up as draws. Fast kicking and low scoring, has given spectators insight to the amazing discipline on both offense and defense, which should make for an exciting World Cup Championship.

Just as World Cup Fever is igniting, we've got our own little soccer (football) competition going on here, with Giant Killing!

Don't forget to catch a new episode of Giant Killing this and every Sunday at 8:30 am PST. For those of you who are new to the series or jumping in with the World Cup fever going on, here's what it's all about:

Experiencing a long streak of poor performances for several years in the Japanese professional football league, the East Tokyo United (ETU) hires Takeshi Tatsumi as manager to try to break the curse that seems to have fallen over the team. Having spent three years in England, Tatsumi managed to take an amateur team to the top 32 teams of the FA Cup.

Many consider him a bad choice and protest against this decision. They hold a grudge against Takeshi because they consider him a traitor for leaving ETU at the height of his career when he was still a football player. Unfazed by the negative mood that looms over the field, Tatsumi seems confident that he might be able to bring glory back to his team once again.

Will ETU rise to become champions or succumb under the pressure? Find out by watching Giant Killing now!

And who will win the actual World Cup?
Will some actual giants like Brazil, Germany and Italy fall, or will they take home yet another victory?
Place your predictions here and let's see who the winner will be!

Happy World Cup and Giant Killing watching.

I'll pitch in on promoting the show. I am one who has a general dislike for traditional sports, yet Giant Killing has impressively secured a spot among shows I'll be consistently watching this season. I expected it to be mostly focused on the games themselves, but instead it has achieved a great balance between character and plot development, as well as action to get anyone on the edge of their seat (indeed even with minimal understanding of the rules, the matches in the show are still presented in a way that is easy to follow).

What is this world cup? I wonder how much chocolate milk it can hold.

I plan on watching some of the games tomorrow. The news ran a spot on the World Cup today that got me interested in catching some of the matches. When I saw promotions of the World Cup this evening, I thought, I really need to check out Giant Killing, and then here we are with this forum thread!

i agree with terragamer, i don't follow much of any sports, the last sport i paid any attention to was nascar, and that stoped quite a few years ago, but this show does keep you on your toes, with the amazing way they explain everything in a way that neither makes you feel stupid, or makes you bored over the content explanations of whats going on
