Oh, don't only pick one or two, there are 32 teams in the competition. I like underdogs, so I am following South Africa in Group A, USA in Group C, Australia in Group D, and New Zealand in Group F. That means out of 48 group games, I'll be focusing on 12. Of course, if you pick favorites, you are kind of "meh" if they advance and miserable if they fail, but if you pick underdogs, you are happy if any of them advance.

And entirely independent of that, adding Giant Killing to run alongside Durarara is what rescued the Spring season for me.

I'd like to see USA make it to semi finals but I'm not holding my breath. I wouldn't mind if England or Germany won. But I don't want to see Brazil, Italy, or France take it. Stupid World Cup is going to make me have to go to bed at a decent time so that I can wake up to watch some of the games though. I was considering checking out Giant Killing so I may have to do so now.

I got friends into the sport but I consider myself still a novice-semi knowledgeable at best. I just find the scope of this anime amazing from not just a simple sports anime focusing on players and coaches, but to the fans from many walks of life, reporters, the opposition and more on a more global view and STILL work without overwhelming on character development! The action is well done, the plot is a roller coaster but like Tatsumi you want to see where it keeps going! Bravo on getting it as the World cup starts, I patiently await another episode to conclude a weekend!
