Cameroon has been eliminated from this World Cup after they lost the second match with Denmark...two great teams from Africa: Nigeria and Cameroon after two matches have 0 points...at least Nigeria still have some chances to go through but for Cameroon...GAME OVER

But Bafana Banana still have a mathematical chance, if they beat Les Miserables by a big score and Uruguay plays the Mexico game to win instead of being happy to just draw.

And Ghana can still win their group. Of course, since a Ghana win is the Ozzies best hope to advance, I am barracking for Ghana against Germany, and even if it did not help one of my four teams, I'd still want Ghana to win.

A question in this World Cup would be whether the European teams would enjoy the climate and the time zone and do as well as when Europe hosts, or do as poorly as they normally do when its in the Americas. With France, Greece, England, Serbia, Denmark, Slovakia in 3rd place after 2 rounds and Portugal in 3rd place after 1 ... and Italy is only ahead of New Zealand on alphabetical order - same points, same goal differential, same goals scored. ... it looks like Europe just does not do as well if they do not host the World Cup in Europe.

The surprising results at this World Cup continue New Zeeland vs Italy ended 1-1...so much for the en-titre champions from 2006
With results like this Italy doesn't deserve to go through to the next round

And lo and behold, they didn't.

TeamUSA through. The Blue Samarai through. Ghana's Black Stars through. Italy out.

That is so sweet.

Italy and France played the final in 2006...and now they will meet at the airport Japan made a great match with Denmark...those goals from free kicks were awesome Now the fun begins...tomorrow there will be 2 matches from the last 16: Uruguay vs South Korea and
USA vs Ghana

In the matches from the last 16 the referees made some big mistakes England scored a corect goal with Germany but the referee canceled the goal...well come to think of it maybe the germans "curse" from 1966 when England scored a "phantom" goal against Germany in the final reached England after 44 years And another mistake was in the match Argentina vs Mexico...Argentina's first goal shoul've been canceled because it was offside whatever...maybe fifa should introduce the official replay at all the next tournaments from now on...and some matches will not be decided by mistakes of the referees Some teams are helped by the referees and it's not fair

Goodbye Brazil! It's been fun!

Yay! The Netherlands is in the semi finals!
And in the semi final our opponent will be... well, Uruguay and Ghana are going to fight over that now.

Its Uruguay, so you'll be spared the "away game" atmosphere if you'd been playing Ghana.

How many times has the Netherlands been to the World Cup semifinals?

I hope Spain beats Germany, to maximize the chances that its a country who will win the World Cup for the first time.

That's certainly true.
But actually, I was hoping that Ghana would win. It would be the first African country in history to reach the semifinals in the World Cup. All African people were rooting for Ghana to reach that achievement. And I wouldn't even mind that much if they beat the Netherlands in the semifinals.
Too bad they didn't make it.

This is the fourth time. Last time was in 1998. We got beaten by Brazil then.

I hope that too. Id'rather see Spain win for the first time than Germany for the fourth time.

Well we have a final...Holland vs Spain But what happened in the quarter-finals was unbelievable Germany smashed Maradona's Argentina with 4-0...this is what happends when you're arrogant I hope Maradona learned his lesson Next...Uruguay vs Ghana!!
How stupid could be Gyan from Ghana ...he had a chance to score from a penalty in the 120 minute and he missed Suarez was a national hero in Uruguay after he stopped that ball with his hand...he sacrificed himself for the team and they have qualified in the semi-finals after penalty-kicks but Holland was too good for them...they won with 3-2 Holland's streak of victories continued!!
Finally in the second semi-final Spain defeated Germany again with 1-0 after they defeated them at Euro 2008 in the final
One thing is for sure:whoever wins in the final will win the World Cup for the first time in history I think Holland will win because they are undefeated and their streak of victories will not end in the final with Spain Holland played 2 finals in a row in 1974 and 1978 but they were defeated by the hosts of those tournaments:in 1974 West Germany defeated them with 2-1 and in 1978 Argentina defeated them with 3-1 so now it's time for Holland to break the ice at this World Cup from South Africa Even though Spain wants to be the 3-rd country in Europe to win the European Championship and the World Cup after Germany(1972-1974) and France(1998-2000) Well we shall see what happends but something tells me that Holland will win let's see what the oracol-octopus Paul will predict in the final...until now he predicted well all the matches of Germany not a single mistake...let's wait and see what will predict in the final match between Holland and Spain

Paul predicted that Spain will win the World Cup. But it doesn't matter. Paul has made two wrong predictions in Euro 2008 so he is not perfect.

The Dutch players have just finished their training for the final and are in top-form. They have confidence that they will win. It will be an intense battle!

Woot! Spanish flair beats Dutch thuggery! Fans of the beautiful Total Football that the Netherlands used to play will be happy that they did not win with such a brutish approach to defense.

Too Bad. Spain won. No championship for the Netherlands.

But I have to admit: The Spanish played better. More ball possession and more opportunities. And all those fouls and yellow cards on the Dutch side were quite annoying. And short after Heitinga's dismissal Iniesta scored. Too bad it went this way.
