Manga should be available online for a flat fee, just like the anime and drama's that are posted here on CR, or through Apple, manga on the iPad would be pretty cool. The internet is a convenient way for manga, especially smaller more obscure titles. It also seems to be the only source for people to enjoy manga online from around the world, since it seems the majority of titles aren't available in their countries. I thing we all recognize that artist have a right to be compensated for them work, no question and have been a regular subscriber to Shonen Jump for years now. Companies have to recognize that there is often no legitimate outlet for people to interact with the products they offer. For example, if I hear a song I like, say from a Japanese artist and I would like to download it, I immediately go to itunes to see if its available. Where things get complicated is when I discover that the song I would like to purchase is either not available for purchase or is not available in my territory, which is quite possible the most frustrating aspect of trying to acquire anything online. Somethings, old-time titles can fall by the wayside because they may not be much of a demand for them. However, that doesn't mean that no one would be interested them or they have no value. I really don't understand why there can't be a universal library system online for manga, a site were that is globally accessible and that allows people from around the world to interact. Maybe people should try to find away to articulate to the manga companies what we want, maybe we should all cancel our subscriptions to Shonen Jump to get their attention.

Yeah I see everyone following your lead. While were at it why don't they take all our mangas to Shonen Jump headquarters and set it on fire outside their offices. That'll teach them!

You couldn't rally enough people to cancel their subscriptions. There are more people against piracy then people for it. You'd have to convince stubborn people like myself that shutting these sites down is bad. And seriously good luck with that.

Hey! Next let's fight the anime industry. Everyone stop subscribing to Crunchyroll, stop buying dvds and stop watching anime. Let's send a message to the industry!

Even though this is all wrong, people are obsessed with manga and i my self was shocked and even looked around to see if other manga sites were being taken down and they were, this depresses me but i gotta face reality and let it go cuz as we grow up we gotta face life and gotta put our manga down, maybe fold the top corner of the page to save my spot, but i will come back to it and by then, like many others out here instead of taking the manga for free off the web ill go to a library or even buy the manga cuz we have to respect the mangakas for being geniuses at their jobs. And im sure they wanna get paid cause if you've seen the life of a mangaka its pretty darn hard and stressful so i dont blame them.

but if u look at the other side, manga is gonna be sold in japan constantly and raws and scans are gonna be released on the web and this wont stop until the manga stops so manga sites will comeback and then be taken down but then another would pop up and then taken down the cycle will repeat, so its really up the the fans to decide which way they will go either buy it or read it online. this shows that piracy will always happen whether you like it or not and the laws or w/e themselves have to step it up to actually stop it, but looking at the sheer numbers its not gonna be happening soon or thats what i think.

i always make sure to find the stuff i like on their before going out and searching for it in bookshops even if theyre about 50km from my house. This just makes it harder for me to get into manga T.T

although I'm sad that i may not be able to read manga online again, but i would like to be fair :publishers have their copyrights so it is illegal to copy or resell their works,so what they are doing now is very logic, although i don't know why they are starting now,it's been many years that manga is being read online for free like that,i would actually thank them that they allowed me to read all of these titles for free until now.
as for people who say that they wouldn't buy something that they don't know about so they need to read online first and then buy it;i don't think that all people who buy books ,novels, magazines or other comic books are actually reading them somewhere and then buy them!i will be frank and say that even if manga is available in my area and I can read them online for free so why would I waste money to buy them?if I want to reread them I would go to the site again and read them,so let us stop making excuses.
but what sades me,that in my area there are no mangas and I don't have the money to buy them if they are sold in my area, because I would need a fortune to buy every series I like, and of course I don't have the money to e-buy them from amazon or other sites,so I hope that CR will negotiate with JAPANESE manga publishers and host manga legally, but I hope that if that happens that manga will be available for all region, since most of anime that is streamed on CR is not available for me

Sadface, they are took down Onemanga. Even though there are goings to be other sites.
Who knows, they might get shut down as well. No more bleach,Naruto, KHR, and many
other mangas for the people who can't read japanese =/.

When is the last time you saw an advertisement for manga on tv. These hosting sites are the only place where manga receive any exposure outside of bookstores. Just erasing hosting sites would probably be as bad for the industry as it would be for the fans. I kinda agree with what Wybil just said. More than likely, were going to see more sites like CR going up. A middle ground where the industry gets enough money to be happy and the fans don't have to empty their wallets to enjoy their favorites.

There is no underground market, there is only the market. Your business is only as valuable as the next person willing and capable of doing it. You know this. You've reduced the value of free online content by relying on law enforcement agencies to increase the risk and technical prowess required to obtain it. Smart move, if a little premature. Now when are you going to take advantage of that opening (which I'm paying law enforcement taxes for) to create and sell me an equivalent product? We're both wasting money every second you don't, and it's not just today's customers. You are slowly losing my interest.

P.S.
^^ Note the total lack of manga/publishers mentioned here. Reduce, reuse, recycle.

I am more than happy that they are doing that (and yes i do read scanlations) because it is really popular and its causing many people to lose money (those artist need money to live)

these are just some japense blogs/forums bout the ending of scanlations that i pulled up on sanukacomplex. It seems they really do not like us doing this, now i can not speak for the whole these where "cherry picked" from a certain website. which I can not name.

Actually the "plan" for some publishers is to offer some chapters on their websites. Essentially just a transfer in who actually hosts the scans. And plus there are series that made it through a lot that I read, that aren't even translated yet. And because I don't know who scanslates the series often, I have to wait until the anime gets to that part of the story, which might not actually happen T^T, or read the Chinese RAWs every week, yes I know of such a site. Plus I don't exactly have a convenient bookstore just down the block so I waste plenty of time just to get to a store. The volumes don't come out often enough so I end up just going once a year or so to check out what new manga they have in stock.

But yes it will affect many people's ability to read the manga because, as we are all human, we like to sample a piece of writing, and other things, before we buy at times. An abridged summary doesn't do too much for me anymore. And so if a series goes on and I'm able to read it, then I would make a purchase when the official books are out. But I don't have the money to be spending on $200 or so of manga books I might not actually read.

BTW is the banning of online manga is only for the manga that is translated into english only or all online manga,i.e.if the manga is translated into chinese or other languages so will it be ok?
