There's no guarantee that it will be similar to the anime. Deb Aoki interviewed the CEO and he said it was going to be Bitway negotiating for the digital rights on behalf of publishers and Crunchyroll providing the tools for them to make the manga available. But it would be all the publishers doing the licensing, so if you want them to include Crunchyroll, you have to ask the publishers to do that.

If the manga reader is any good for netbooks, I wish that Yen Plus Online and SigIKKI would use it to put up manga here at Crunchyroll, because their current readers are only really for people with desktops and big screen laptops.

Well, as long as they don't make it "US & Canada only" I'll be happy to see the results of such investments.

wow, that's cool! But is there gonna be regional restrictions or something of the sort?

oh i saw this: "aims to work with Crunchyroll to build a comic-distribution platform overseas, with an emphasis on the United States and Canada."

That is unfortunate for everyone not in Region 1, but maybe if it is successful in the US and Canada it will be expanded.

This thing with Crunchyroll getting manga may still happen, but there will be competition for this site because 37 publishing companies in Japan will be making a North American Manga portal that will distribute manga digitally. Shueisha, Kodansha, Shogakukan, Akita Shoten, and Kadokawa Shoten along with the 32 others will be a part of this site, which is tentatively named J-Manga Portal Site. The site will periodically give free manga, but don't expect all manga to be free.

Other publishers include Enterbrain, ASCII Media Works, Media Factory, and others (you will have to go to the link to see the rest). Square Enix isn't a part of this deal, since they already have a manga site set up with their official site.

The beta of the site should happen by the end of 2010, with an official launch in March of 2011.

Here's the source of information: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2010-11-12/37-japanese-publishers-to-launch-n-american-manga-portal
