my top favorite...

1. FFVIII*-introduced me to the series. great story and characters. i think Square-Enix could make a movie from the game, without changing anything about it. no sequels needed. just a live motion picture exactly as the game itself.

2. FFIX-lots of sidequests. i love a RPG with lots of sidequests, and it's just fun to play. a bit underrated, i think

3. FFX-it was the first one to have voice acting, so that will always stick with me. also, it's a game where you could use status effects against your enemies and they would actually work THE FIRST TIME! not all FF games are like that. you usually have to use them two or three times in other games before they actually work!

my bottom favorite... lol!

1. FFVII-overrated, overrated, OVERRATED!!! the movie sequel was a bit better, i think. i feel the main reasons for this particular game being so popular is because one of the main characters died (i'm sure when it was released ppl weren't expecting Aeris-or Aerith-to actually get killed), because the characters are 3D, and because the almighty Cloud Strife carries a huge sword. *sigh*

2. FFX-2-quests made no sense. i mean, what was the point of having the women half naked in a hot spring in the middle of a quest?! for what? also, some of the costumes looked utterly stupid! and even if you complete 100% of the game, the ending is hardly any different than if you beat less than 100%. there's just an extra five or six minutes of cinematic scene added to it. another reason is because Brother made things awkward. the man wanted to get with his own COUSIN, for crying out loud! the only good thing about it was that the music was better than its prequel. and speaking of the prequel, what pisses me off about this game is that it makes you want to quit and play the prequel again instead...

3. FFXIII-it's pretty obvious: no towns or cities. can't collect enough information from NCPs or stock up on items the way you want to. buying those high-priced items, weapons, components (wtf?), etc. from shops located at the millions of Save Points throughtout the game becomes tedious. not to mention you have to grind CP like crazy just to be able to make it through some of the tougher battles. and two key things that this game is missing that many ppl have made note of: the victory fanfare as well as the Final Fantasy main theme. completely gone!
yeah, the battle system is fun and it's nice the most of the NCPs actually have voices. the characters (except Vanille) aren't bad either. but to have waited so long for this game to be released, i think it could've been much better.

one thing i wanna add is that my third least fav FF game was at first going to be a tie between XII and XIII, but the reasons for XIII began to outweigh XII's, so i had to go with XIII being my third least favorite.

these are just my opinions. so plz don't upset if you don't agree with any of it. thanks!

I really really really want to defend FFXIII, alot of people seem to be putting it in the worst list. But....unfortunately I haven't played it, so technically, I can't say crap. Oh well, time for the games I have played.

Worst

FFIII: Had almost no storyline whatsoever. I am sorry, while I do play FF games for the gameplay, I mostly play for the story, and this game gave absolutely none. Plus, I didn't like that fact that you literally had to level up each damn class.

FFV: To be honest, I didn't care for this one. Had a decent storyline and gameplay but once again, that stupid class system was back. I bet there are worst out there that I haven't played but for now, this is taking second place.

FF Crystal Chronicles: This game takes 1st place in the wost FF game ever. No storyline. repeptive gameplay, sucky graphics, NO STORYLINE. etc. It was just a fail on Square's part. Why couldn't they give us a legit FF game for the GC?

Best

Final Fantasy Crisis Core: I truly enjoyed this game. Great graphics, smooth (a bit slow though) gameplay, and a in depth insight on Zacks and Sephiroths past. A true gem among PSP games.

FF Tactics: Best frickin storyline ever! Well, maybe not the best, but it certainly is intricate and well drawn out. Not only that, but the gameplay was fun and addictive.

FF VI: You know...I have no idea why I think this game is the best....I really don't. The storyline was good but it was nothing great, the gameplay was what you would expect from an FF game....I don't know...all I know is that this game casted a spell on me and i love it. Best FF game ever!

Best:

FFVI: Three dimensional characters, great storyline, and a scene that actually made me cry. It had action, drama, romance, betrayal, reunions, redemptions... They could make an EPIC movie out of it.

FFVIII: A very engaging storyline, one of the only ones in the series that I've played more than once. three times, in fact. (FFVI has it beat by one playthrough). Again, three dimensional characters that actually learn and change throughout the story. And unlike most, I actually LIKED the battle system and the junction system. ^^;

FFX/FFX-2: Yeah, I know, the second game had a lot of fan service. But FFX had one of the best main characters, and by that I mean one of the most realistic. The storyline really affected me, and the ending made me truly upset. So I add in X-2 because it allowed me to "fix" the mistake of the first one's ending. ^^; What can I say, I'm a sucker for a good romance. Laughing scene aside. >>;

Worst:

FFI: No plot, NPCs no help, magic system was HARD AS HELL to get to the point where it was actually useful. Characters were non-existent, basically just a bunch of interchangeable archetypes. If you missed a clue as to where you were supposed to go, good luck actually figuring it out. You're more likely to wander into an area you can't get yourself back out of and die. it's either: "Where the hell is that damn witches' cave anyway?" or "Oh! The witches' cave! I know this is important for something! ... Why won't she talk to me?!" I want to know how this game saved the company from going under?

And because I need to pick two more games...

FFIII: Not a terrible game, but since I lost interest halfway through and couldn't care less about going back and finishing it, I'd say it loses points for not being interesting enough. I'll probably go back and play through again sometime, though. The characters were decent, though.

FFV: Again, dull. Only this game I HAVE attempted more than once. Twice, actually. And I really can't recall much about it that would make me want to try again. >>;

All the other games I liked. Some more than others, for various reasons. (FFIX seemed to go on an acid trip around the start of the third disc, iirc, and I want to punt Hope from the Hanging Edge, along with the games amazing linearity) but all of them have redeeming qualities, as well. I suppose even FFIII and FFV aren't something I would put on my list of worst games ever.

Hi all,

topic is roughly explained in the title, but just in case.
This topic Is about what YOU think is the best three Final Fantasy games and if possible the worst three Final Fantasy and why.

here is my opinion with description:
Worst three
At third place FFXIII, mostly due to the summons being mechanical, I don't like them it just doesn't feel FF-like more star ocean-like, and it not having any side-quests just ruined it for me.

In second place FFVII, (I will accept any complaints about this), Due to the quality of the graphics, its a 3-D FF that could have done so much better in graphics. even Crash bandicoot and tomb raider had better graphics, but my main pet hate towards the game is that there are too many fans of the game just because its polygon 3-D, and sepiroth has his own theme song or that Aerith dies.

In first place I have selected FFII, gameplay was good, but the leveling system was annoying, the characters don't level up the equipment does, and the characters health increase's after a battle when the character take's damage, which is very annoying in my case.

Best Three
At third place FFIV, one of my favourite due to the love triangle between Kain,Cecil and Rosa, but mainly because of the elemental beings songs.

In second place FFI, Just because it was hard, if you weren't paying attention to some-one giving you a clue to the next location thats it your stuck, but the earth temple was a confusing temple just trying to get to the bottom confused me so much spent ages doing it.

In first place it's FFVI, my fav FF ever due to its comedy, Battle conversation's were brill especially between edgar and locke concerning terra, even now I can play it and laugh at the jokes aimed towards all types of people, mostly adults with a perverted mind lol

now its your turn best three, worst three and why enjoy

have you've ever tried playing final fantasy XIII? It's pretty nice the summons are fun to use that way.

Why does everyone hate final fantasy 13? It's story is great and the battle system is just way too awesome.
Don't judge ff13 if u haven't played for yourself.

I liked FFX, FF7, and FF9 (it's very underrated)

im not feeling the whole recycled characters in FFXIII...somehow i feel that Snow is a bit generic and lighting has the "recycled" angsty-soldier personality.

~i was a fan of crystal chronicles but i stopped playing ages ago. the second one is also a bit short. lovin' the customization though (even being limited)

Having played every single Final Fantasy from I to XIII, I can say that squaresoft was way better than Square-Enix.

1st, my favorite is FF VI. My less favorite was FF XII.

FF VI was like a god game to me. I enjoyed every bit of it. Each characters has their own abilities.
You can learn all magic. Many sidestories and background stories. Many quests. The reunions were fun. There are missable. I like to collect all the Espers. Kefka was an awesome Evil Mastermind. 12 (or 20?) characters to play with.

FF XII was a desappointment. No Shiva, Ifrit, Bahamut kinda killed it for me. You don't remove a winning combination to change it into something like Gilgamesh or Adrammalech. What the f are those names? It's a battle system that make you into auto-mode. I mean... what? I don't like the universe of Ivalice. Not that one, anyway. I feel like a failed star-wars movie, that are not in space. Also, no real Limit Break. I missed good old times awesomeness of Omnislash when I first saw it. The only thing I liked about the game was the character.

On a side note, I really loved Final Fantasy Tactics. They are taking forever to create a FFT 2. Im not talking about the DS version of advance, which was decent for me.

I personnally believe that when they changed Squaresoft to Square-Enix, they follow a new management that want to change the core of the Final Fantasy franchise. Which will result in games in post-modern medieval with lots of flying technological ships. I hate that. Games made from squaresoft began to fail. FFT was a squaresoft production and it got halted. In its place, they made childish tactic game like FFT advance.

That is why I kinda grind when I see Square-Enix on a new game box. I hate the way they've become.
The only series I now enjoy from Square-Enix is The Valkyrie Profile. Which was created by Tri-Ace and prodced by Square-Enix.

The reason they still sell is because of the final fantasy name. Which they soiled years after years.
Dead-end fans will follow. But many will be disappointed. I am one of those.

My Favorite Final Fantasy games include :

Final Fantasy IV
Final Fantasy VI
Final Fantasy VIII
Final Fantasy IX

Failures were :

Final Fantasy XII
and maybe Final Fantasy XIII (not sure how I feel about this one, liked the combat, but other than that, the entire game was crappy)

And yes, Square was much better when they were Squaresoft as compared to Square-Enix of today. Atlus is my only hope in terms of pumping out JRPG's at the same level as the old Squaresoft. (Just my opinion tho lol)

Final Fantasy X-2 : JUST because it was a sequel. besides that, ( except plot ) I didn't really get.

Final Fantasy VI : It really fits my interests.
