I used to say it a lot, rather than just pausing. It was a just a habit really. One I had to work hard to break. I don't use like excessively any more though, and I don't have to pay attention to what I say to prevent it anymore. I don't know if guys are less likely to say it, or if they just actually bother to avoid it, unlike a lot of girls.

I use "like" often but dunno why...lol
hmm maybe cuz girl's are rarely direct? For example they might say "I went to see an old friend and she was like hey, long time no see!" Instead of saying "I went to see an old friend and she said hey, long time no see!"

it never used to happen to me but then a girl i knew kept saying it so now i do sometinmes its pretty annoying, another girl i knew every second word was like, it really pissed me off!  |

overusing any word is not a bright idea, but "like" is used a lot by girls maybe because we tend to pay attention to every little detail, and so we may find more appealing things to us. |

i dont use it much, but i do it to annoy people.
but i do know someone who uses "like" in every single thing she says!
