Haven rubbed her forehead, sighing heavily. it was so damn hot!
"Almost there..." she muttered.
She saw the store around the corner, and dashed for it. opening the door, she was greeted with a lovely rush of cool, A/C'd air. she almost dropped to the floor in happiness. rushing into the counter, she bumped into a man who seemed almost whipped. "Oh, I'm very sorry" she said quietly, stuttering slightly.

Shin woke up lazily, yawning as he got up from a tall house roof he was on. " Wreak havoc, you say?" He muttered, yawning as he mimicked the words of other demons, transferring from realm to realm. The city wasn't 'wreak-able' to him. It was more like a giant napping area. How would one wreak havoc? It was a puzzling question. After all, he could go and kill a human walking down the curb, or slay car belonging to a family on a highway.

But that, right there, was too much work for the lonesome demon. He would get tired just trying to find one. Plus, he was too, too lazy for it, and too noticeable. The attire he was wearing was much to authentic and rustic for the modern world. A black Edo period haori over a white yukata? You might as well just call him 'weird'. " Right.. Clothes." He sighed, and hopped into the house he was above. " This will suffice." He grumbled bitterly, getting tired once again.

He walked out of the house, the same way he walked in, through an open window. He walked out into the human world in a basic, black, loose long sleeved t shirt, and blue jeans. The bad thing ones, he was barefoot. " Ugh, shoes.." He looked at the open window, grimacing. It was too much work to get back inside and grab another pair. He sighed, and walked onto the concrete, barefoot, seeing that it was good enough.

Haven waited patiently, behind the line of people getting ice cream. she was right under the A/C vent, so she wasn't complaining.

Finally, it was here turn.

She smiled politely at the cashier. "Hi, may i have a regular chocolate cone, please?"

He smirked at her politeness. no one did that anymore. Haven crinkled her nose, realizing what society is becoming.

Getting her cone, she decided to walk around town for a bit, seeing as there was no room in the ice cream shop.

In another town somewhere far to the east....

Even after almost five years of wandering he still could not fully understand the deep change that humantiy had gone through. Kurugia understood the concept of change but could not accept how the world had changed so much in such a short period of time. The inhabitants of the world no longer carried around weapons like swords, axes, or spears. They no longer rode horse pulled carriages nor did they live in high tall towers made of crystalized arcane magic, for that matter the concept of 'magic' had bubbled down to being nothing more than a child's toy. A way of 'wasting time' as one rude commoner claimed.

The people of the current time period lived their lifes as....offise?? ofice?... oh right, 'office worker' as they called it. while entering and leaving giant tall steel buildings. They rode around on metal horseless carriages and metal birds. The concept of 'technology' was still foreign to someone who lived during the old arcane ages. For five years Kurugia wandered the long winding roads of Evergreen town.

These humans are so entertaining. I thought, looking around at all the sign boards around. the names they give to places… its like they are bragging about killing off all of that wildlife. ‘Beaver Creek’ they named it, and yet there is not a beaver to be seen. ‘Bluebird Forest’ and yet again… no sign of a single bluebird… all killed off from over hunting or littering.

The one thing that did not or rather, does not change no matter how much time goes by is the ‘bar’ as the people of this time period named calls it. In there even a man from this time period acts the same when drunk as a man from thousands of years ago. Kurugia had undergone a formidable change during the time he spent in hell. Though externally he still looked like a 20 year old human being, interiorly he was completely changed. His muscles, sight, speed, and reaction time had far exceeded the limits of a human body and had entered the level of a demon. A few fights that he got involved in were quickly resolved before anyone got to the scene of the crime. Those that saw his demonic nature never survived to see the next day. Since carrying around his bow in a time period where carrying around such weapons were looked down upon by others (illegal… but Kuru doesn’t know that) he had learned to materialized the bow only when he wished.

The Evergreen town… was rarely ever green. Most of the ‘greenery’ were fake imported plastic made materials, while all the Evergreen trees were cut down to make more space for new houses. Currently Kurugia was deciding whether it was time to move on or not… when his thoughts were interrupted…

"And then, as I was cutting down another tree, a huge ass bear came flying out of the bush growling at me. Man was I scared! I smacked that bear straight across the face with my chainsaw and ran for my life. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, man now that’s an experience" a large man boasted.
"Ahhh, stop it Fred! You’re making a fool out of yourself. What if you start another fight with another worker? You’ll be fired! Man you shouldn’t be drinking so much it’s bad for your health!" cried a short skinny man.

The large man was about 37 years old and was wearing logging trousers with a fake leather jacket used to block out the cold winds. Multiple scars showed on his muscled arms which was more then enough proof to show he has been through many a bar fights and survived. His features showed clear signs of a brawler which required strong muscled arms and stone hard fists to excel. But currently under the heavy influence of alcohol along with his large beer belly, his was nothing more than a bumbling idiot.

"The little one is right," I said looking up from under my cloak.

I had walked into the bar earlier that day looking for any hints on gods or angels making an appearance among the local folk since rumours always seemed to gather among the local bars. So far I hadn’t found anything of worthwhile, thus, I’ve been wasting my time in the bar listening to random rumours being passed around by the local customers. It was also about time that Kurugia was to move on to a different town so he had decided to making a lasting impression.

"If you drink anymore, you’re going to flood the toilet." I said pointing with my nose at the large beer belly, “and that’s going to be the least of your worries. Imagine trying to exit through the door with a belly like that. You’re going to block the only exit leaving the rest of us with nothing to do other then to stare at your fat ass as we all starve to death.”

It took a few moments before the insult registered to the fat man's brain. Roaring with outrage, the man broke a nearby pool stick in half and charged at me holding the stick like a lance with the broken part facing towards me.

"How dare you be so fucken disrespecting towards your seniors! I’ll murder ya!" he cried

It was quite humorous to see a man who had existed for less then 1/100th of my time to be claiming to be my senior, still since the man insisted that the senior teach the junior about proper respect, I saw no reason to disagree. Ducking under his heavy swing I firmly grabbed the back of his head and smashed him face first into the wooden floor. Looking down I realized that there was an empty space beneath the wooden floor and the man's head had gone clear through it.

Screaming in outrage the drunkard's friend charged at me swinging the other broken end of the pool stick.

Avoiding the sharp edges of the pool stick, I grabbed the back of his head and his time, smashed it into my knee with all my strength. Interestingly, my knee only tingled, which showed how much my interior muscles and bone had become stronger. The man in my grip however, was in a worse state; His face was completely unrecognizable with his broken nose and with blood and broken teeth flying everywhere.

Looking up, the only other remaining individual - the bar tender – was pointing a long metal pole towards my direction. “Stay away from me you monster!” screamed the bar tender as he made a small movement with his forefinger. Instantly I doubled up as my gut clenched hard and made it hard to breathe. I remembered back during the time I too was a human, when one of my opponents had gut-punched me. That pain in the memory was similar to what I felt right now.

Looking down I saw half a dozen metal beads roll off of the gut area of my breastplate. My breastplate was still in perfect condition, but the pain had gone straight through the breastplate and entered my gut. Though the skin was not broken, I could tell there was going to be a small bruise.
what the? I though magic no longer existed in this world… how did he manage to cause me such pain with such small beads??

Looking up with hate filled eyes I slowly got up and readied my stance. A certain martial arts technique I had learned while down in hell… it was time to try it out on a living being.

The bar-tender was in a state of panic. He had shot Kurugia straight into his gut at point blank range with a shotgun. That only seemed to anger him rather then wound him, or like any other living being should react, be ripped apart instantly.

Kurugia charged, and the bar tender managed to fire off one more shot before…

The local marshal shook his head in displeasure. The bar where the crime took place… the deaths of the two forestry workers could be described as a bad outcome of a bar fight, however as for the bartender… his face and body were ravaged by unknown claws, his body drenched in dark wetness. The smell of death was a palpable thing, like rotting fruit on a hot day.

The most curious thing was that while the first two deaths could be explained, the final death was unexplainable. No clues or foot prints or finger prints suggested that there were more then the three in the bar at the time of the crime. As for the camera that was installed outside the bar, the only recording that showed was the bartender opening up his shop, the two forestry workers coming in to rest, and the police pulling up 2 days later from complaints of weird smells coming from the local bar. The bar did not have a back door nor did it seem like any of the windows had been opened for the past 3-4 days. It was as if a ghost had entered, killed the bar tender and left.

sigh… saying that a ghost was responsible… I’d immediately be fired from my job for making a false report… sheesh no one believes in ghosts nowadays. This is going to take a lot of field work… he thought…

a few miles away…

fuck… it seems I am still not used to fighting in flesh and blood again. That technique was supposed to make the man spontaneously explode. All it did was give him some scars on his body and face. Sigh...

Lilith stopped and smiled, was that a please she just heard? How long had it been since something like that had been uttered from the mouth of a human? Always 'give me this' or 'I want that', perhaps even 'I don't want to work!'. What a lazy community of collective species. But this little one seemed intresting, yet something about her stunk, like all good things she had yet to get a hold on. She turned to man beside her and whispered a few sweet nothings into his ear, watching him leave, his wallet in her hand.Pocketing it, her smile grew.

She turned to the young girl, a bright smile splayed across her face, ice cream cone in her left hand. Her voice rang out, different than when she had confronted the man, sweeter, brighter. "Hello~!" she said, her face suddenlty turning to a cute pout. Acting was easy, but being the thing you act was not. " I'm sorry about my friend earlier, he has no manners. He should have moved so you wouldn't have bumped into him."

Haven sighed blissfully, enjoying her ice cream, and just how beautiful the world was in the summertime.

Suddenly, she heard a voice from a few steps behind her, and turned around.

"Oh, it's the beautiful woman from the icecream shop! The one with the man!" she thought to herself.

Haven gave the woman a true bright smile.

"Oh, hello!" She said, politely bowing her head a little. "Oh, please don't worry about that at all! It was mostly my fault, I dashed into the store because it was so hot." She said kindly, chuckling a little. "May I ask how your doing?" she questioned, again getting odd looks from passerby's who heard her polite speech.

Haven didn't care though, she was curious.

"Fine, just fine. Thank you for asking. It's a beautiful day isn't it?" she asks, smiling back, enthralled with her new find. A genuine polite little...No. She knew this smell, it wasn't quite human. But then again, it wasn't quite...angel either. Her smile persisted as her dim look on humanity returned. 'of course there are no good humans.' she thought to herself.

Haven nodded, smiling back. "Oh, yes! It's simply lovely! You see that tree over there?" she said, pointing to an almost dead looking, thin tree. Not quite a sight to look at.

"I think it's the most beautiful one here." She said with a small smile. "My friend and I found it just about dead, a month ago. But we helped it! And now look, it's growing!" She said, almost proud in a motherly kind of way.

"Oh, forgive me! I'm rambling on and on." Haven blushed, rubbing the back of her head. "My name's Haven! May I ask yours?"

"No, don't worry. I think it is beautiful too, just the way it is." she answers, before standing and licking her icecream, a hand on her hip. ' this girl is the key to something bigger... I should keep an eye on her...' she thinks. " My name is Lily! And Haven is such a cute name, I'm jealous. But I have to go, I have some friend in the town over I have to meet. You have a good day Haven, I just know we will meet again!"

"Really? You see it too?" Haven smiled. "Not many people appreciate the beauty of the little things. And oh, nono, Lily is much cuter!" Haven said, smiling and rubbing the back of her head in an embarrassed manner.

"But thank you, very much actually. It means a lot! And alright! Don't be late yes?" She said warmly.

"I hope your day is lovely, see you later!" She smiled, and waved as you walked away.

"That was pleasant," she thought to herself, "It's lovely when you meet such nice people. Now, what should i do?"

" Ah.. my feet are sore.." The demon grumbled as he walked across another street, to the 'downtown' area. People were staring at him, of course, because he was barefoot, which is of course, a rare sight to see in the modern realm. " Ahhh, I'm hungry too." Shin groaned, his stomach mimicking.

Where would he get food? He had no money, of course, and he had no idea of where he was going. A demon who was a walking idiot, it would seem.

But then, salvation! The demon found an obviously unpopular ramen hut, perched nicely at the end of the street. Desolate, and alone. With nobody around, he could swiftly eat, and then leave without harm, and notice. The perfect but rather simple plan. His hunger getting the best of him, he decided to walk over there, bare feet and all.

"Jeez, I'm starved..." Haven mumbled to herself, walking around.

"Mouu....Everything is so PACKED. Everyones crowded into all the stores...I wonder where i should go..." she thought, sighing.

she managed to see a little ramen house.

"Awh, it's tiny and adorable! I'm gunna go see if they have good food!" She thought happily to herself, walking inside.

After eventually making it to the small ramen hut, he ordered one large bowl, finishing it in an inhumanly quick pace. " 'nother bowl, sir." He requested, putting the dominated, finished, and obliterated bowl to the side. " Heavy eater, aren't ya, boy?" The shopkeeper commented, fixing up another one for the young demon.

Finishing the second one, Shin finally felt full, drinking his cup of water. " Ah, thats the stuff." He muttered, tapping his stomach. Laughing the shopkeeper went to calculate his debt, " That'll be -" He began, but was quickly interrupted by Shin, accurately throwing one of his chopsticks to the side of his neck, hitting a pressure point. " Woops." Shin said innocently, and sarcastically.

" Sorry 'bout that sir, I don't got any money." He apologized, leaning forward on the counter to see the cook sprawled on the floor, looking right back at him. " D-Damn kids!" He groaned, spazzing as he couldn't get up.

Glancing, Shin noticed that someone was walking to the hut, " Aw, man. " He grumbled in displeasure.
