Okay I think we need a petition here. If enough members vote for a specific possibility, surely they can't deny it!

I really started to become bothered by the censoring when it said beside them things like, "This doesn't look good!" Seriously, who are they to decide what looks good and what doesn't to someone over the age of 18? Are they Buddhist monks or something? I want to watch this anime how it's supposed to be watched! Not ruined by overprotective, religious folk! Where are our rights?! Don't alter and ruin our anime and then tell us it's bad!

We're not perverts who want to see nudity and erotic content. Sometimes tasteful banter is what makes this anime so great!
We just don't want to put the show's writers to shame.

Who thinks there should be an option to turn off the censorship when we reach a specific age?
I am posting this elsewhere to get the point across. This needs to become noticed!

I appreciate and endorse the thought behind your words, but unfortunately the censorship in this anime happened in post and exists because it is broadcast (like TV). If it were in OVA form the censorship would be gone. It it not something crunchyroll can control, they only control the subtitles themselves (for some but not all anime).

Personally I am opposed to censorship and believe it is the job of the parents to not only supervise, but properly educate the child on what is and is not appropriate to watch AND WHY (the why part is an important aspect of successful authoritative parenting). For a site such as this, however - where there is no age restriction on viewership and the only primary difference between paying and non paying members is how soon you can watch a show, censorship protects the minds behind crunchyroll from any potential conflicts or legal issues and should continue to do so.

I wouldn't want a 7 year old to watch an uncensored episode because they wouldn't be able to cognitively understand the nudity, language or violence and would seek to recreate them as social norms, that is why censorship will continue to exist in the public domain and only a private release will give the option otherwise.

The original broadcast was not censored, I've watched the anime subed on other sites and it has a lot of breasts in the show. So its crunchyroll or one of their partners doing the censoring of the show. I pay to watch anime on this site and I don't want anyone other then me deciding what I should or should not see, I think an option to have censored or uncensored is a great idea and they can do an age verification via your credit card used to pay for the subscription.

There are two versions, the uncensored version aired almost a week after the censored one.
I take it the version Crunchyroll has is the censored one.

Some of the small faces appear on both though.

I agree with this thread CR should try to get the uncensored version of this anime. I to pay watch anime here and don't appreciate censorship in any part of my life.
I find the censorship in this anime distracting, and it takes away from it all. Some may say it brings humor... to that I say the series has enough humor without censorship.

At the very least make the uncensored version available for paying customers that way you know they are above 18 or have a parents consent to a site that host material they may be 18+ "consent through credit card".

I have to agree with the consensus here. Crunchyroll does add censorship to programs that air uncensored on networks like AT-X. Obviously there is the problem of the censorship itself which is disrespectful to the creators and viewers (especially paying members), but also that the way the censorship is carried out (blanking 2/3 of the screen, logos over panty shots) is extremely distracting. It basically obliterates any chance of a sustained suspension of disbelief.

I thought the censorship was kinda funny. Even though I wish it wasn't there, in this case, it really wasn't bad. I must acknowledge the fact that most of the time it basically is completely distracting ruins some shows, but would not say that about this one.

Agreed, i think it can mess with the funny side of it by making it more obvious with censorship, and therefore detracts from the anime itself. But its still pretty awesome

Can we at least get a response from CR as to why we are getting the censored version?

we should have the option of being able to view both. chrunchyroll, you guys should have a poll, i mean at least for us paying members, it would be nice if you could go the extra step.

Agreed, I pay my $$ so why the censorship. Put up the standard 'Adult Content' and be done with it. Having said that, gotta say WTF on this one, although I did have to watch it all the way through. Entertaining and baffling at the same time, more so than many I've watch lately, and that's saying something.

Unless there is a home video of this series released, I don't think Crunchyroll can get official uncensored versions. I'm not a kid. I want to see all the T and A. I've seen it uncensored on another site, but it was in very low res, and was not an official source. At least we know the unbowdlerized version does exist somewhere.

i watch Daimaoh.. in japanese when it aired (on At-x) it was not censored THIS MUCH they had cartoonish images which made it funny in some points because well, honestly the scene would have turned x rated. I know for a fact they didn't black out half the screen or add a plunger to a spearhead, i ordered crunchyroll to enjoy anime conveniently that i have previously watched, i looked through other titles that aired uncensored on at-x and it was censored here, one piece was not censored, bleach, naruto, even hitman reborn and other titles like 11 Eyes who removed a very important scene due to it's nature of being perverted. This is actually something they did.. there was no content aware editing in daimaoh in the japanese version because it wasn't necessary because there was no nudity. This is getting a bit crazy no matter what people say. If i find anymore titles this badly censored i am just gonna cancel my account.
