So...for some reason, my printer and word processor doesn't want to work at the same time.
Meaning, I have to disable one to get the other working....
=_=
I...have no idea why that is..........even with my vast computer knowledge...

So, instead I just decided to post the light novel I plan on publishing.
At least a bit of it...
Just to see how people react to it.
Plus, I'll be able to organize my thoughts...

WARNING:THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS, THINGS MAY END UP CHANGING IN THE FINAL CUT...!!!

So, I planned to have the story told like a shoujo manga, except the POV is omniscient rather then being told from the girl's perspective.
Just a simple love story where I'll probably be drawing on a few real life experiences to write.
Personally, I'd rather keep it simple, without adding too many twists that throw the story out of perspective and then suddenly it becomes a train wreck. X__x;;

Basically, there's a whole bunch of ways I could write the story...
I'm not sure if I'll keep it as a simple love story, or just add a twist and make it extremely badass and dramatic.
Basically, it could go ANYWHERE...!!!

You got me immediately hooked on shoujo manga. (I'm horrible aren't I?) I'm going to love reading your attempt writing a story similar to shoujo. I'm already into this. Can't 'till the prologue or first chapter or preface or whatever you plan on submitting next.

Thanks for the support.
The light novel will have similarities to a shoujo, but it'll still follow my basic story telling pattern.
So, if people here have grown to like reading what I write, prepare to go: "OH SHIT, YOU COULD DO THAT ALL ALONG?!"
In many ways, it IS a shoujo in the fact that it focus more on the emotions of the characters and the stuff they go through rather than the violence that is SURE to happen.
Well, lets see if I can get a preview in...

I think I've pretty much got the story I want to tell organized in my mind.
I was GOING to make it into a manga, but there's still so much to learn about drawing. So, when my drawing skills improve...expect me to make a manga adaption.

I wonder if I should add a mystery or suspense element. Since it's proving increasingly difficult to write only about the relationship between the two characters.
Again, I want to keep the story's flow as natural as possible, but I also don't want people to read it, say: "So...it's a light novel about two people in love...?" They get bored with it...
Most likely, I'm gonna add a few other elements in there to make it interesting...this way, everyone KNOWS that I wrote it.

Has anyone noticed that at least one character in everything I write has had a f**ked up history...?

Kindly let me elaborate more about my previous post.

I commented that I hope "a love story" to spice things up shall be included in the one you'll be writing & in lieu of this, "a love story incorporated aside of course from the main story itself whether you choose to do a mystery or suspense or even a fantasy would be great". It'll not solely be a full fledged "love story" so to speak. It'll depend on your current mood & inspiration or ambiance of the place where you're likely writing

In response to the abovementioned (your post), any theme for the history of the character is okay as long as it's well written.

Like I said before, I shall wait for the story you shall post.

Hm...it seems my two underlings haven't been doing much work lately...
So I was wondering...how should I torture them...?
I've got my ways...but I'm gonna leave others to vote on their fate. =w=

To state my problem simply, it seems I keep running into walls when I try to create a central problem throughout the story. Since I want to keep it as shoujo as possible, I'm tempted to put in more Shonen elements than there already is...
But then I remember, that's NOT what the story is about. It's a story about the relationship between these two characters and how it affects those around them, yes there is violence, but it's not the focus. So, I decided to take a few steps back, and rework the original idea and characters. I believe I'm done with the male lead, but I'm going to mess with the female lead's character.
Because as it stands, with their current character...
I can't possibly come up with a reason WHY these two would even INTERACT, LET ALONE FALL IN LOVE...!!!
=_=
With the main characters being (A) quiet and (B) hard to approach, it's really unlikely the two would naturally come into contact with each other without the use of some third party, random event or a deus ex machina...!
Now for some Kouta logic:
See, it'd work of one of them was a "Forward", a forward being the person who is TRYING to get the relationship to progress to the next level. But they both have personality traits of a "Distant", a distant being the one who's not too sure about this or generally tries to find a way to keep the forward at a certain length away.
So, in yuri terms...you, as a writer, have to make two bottoms engage in a relationship...
.........
Not so easy is it...?

And that's just one problem.
The other issue is coming up with a problem that takes place within the story. Something that keeps these two characters interacting. Yeah...
So, with that said...I'm gonna go back to working, and see if I can get everything to flow properly by today.
That and my assistants still haven't finished the work I assigned to them...wondering if I should just get new assistants who actually DO THE JOB I ASSIGN THEM...!!!

(Alright...I think I've decided to just do two stories...
=_=;;
Since the other one is REALLY bugging me...

Anyways here's a piece of the shoujo light novel I've been working on.)

Prologue:

"Life is wonderful."

"Hey, Kotaro, what did you get on your mid-year?" His friends and peers all gathered around him, like flies to a light. Their faces stuck in a sense of wonder...
Kotaro decided to mess with them a bit, he looked down at his mid-year, and frowned. As expected, everyone looked like they were in shock, but Kotaro laughed and said; "Perfect marks." He showed them.

"As expected from Kotaro...!"
Everyone around him clapped and congratulated his high score, others were relieved, thanks to Kotaro's tutoring, they managed to get relatively high marks as well.
If only the teachers explained things as well as Kotaro did.

"In Academics, I am king..."

The students waited in anticipation, watching Kotaro intently. He was in a sparring match with four guys twice his size...things didn't look well. Actually...it DIDN'T look well, about 3 minutes ago, before Kotaro effortlessly defeated three of them. Now with this last one, he just needed him to make one simple mistake....
And there it was, as his heel lifted off the ground in attempt to grab at Kotaro's shirt with his right hand, Kotaro knew that his balance would be weak.
As if the opponent was moving in slow motion, Kotaro stepped to the outside of his opponent, he grabbed their wrist with his left hand, turned slightly, positioned his left foot in front of their forward leg, and than pulled. Everything happened in just an instant.
They fell flat on the ground, Kotaro positioned his knee at the center of their back. Rendering them immobile.
Game, set, match.
Of course, as expected, the room exploded in a boom of cheers and applause. You'd figure they'd have gotten used to the sight of Kotaro winning by now? After all, not only was he the school's top athlete, but he was a martial arts prodigy. There was no way he'd lose to anyone.

"My body is strong.."

It was the end of the day, when all students prepared to go home. Though he'd been invited to join many clubs, he had other obligations. When he opened his shoe locker, a flood of love letters came pouring out.
It wasn't the first time it's happened, but this is by the far the most. He could see a few girls hiding, waiting to see what would happen...if there love letters would be chosen...
"...."
He smiled as he picked them up one-by-one, and placing them neatly into his bag. He'd have to read them all later...

"I am very well liked..."

When he gets home, he spends time with his jr. high sister. Playing games together, helping her with her homework and stuff like that. Just the ideal sibling stuff. His parents are very proud of him, they believe he'll grow up to become a very powerful and influential man who will bring great joy...

"Life is very wonderful..."

He lies in his comfy bed, opening up his bag he dumps the love letters onto his bed.
He stares at them very carefully, wondering which ones to read first...? They all seem specially hand made, each one is unique in it's own way. He didn't think he'd fall for any of the girls, but still...he wouldn't shut them out, he'd give them a fighting chance.
He took the first letter, a very pretty violet letter, opened up the envelope carefully and read the contents of the letter:

"This isn't real...."

He sat there pondering what it meant, unaware of how the world around him was collapsing like shattered glass. "Eh...?"
His surroundings...started to look a little more familiar...
"Oh yeah...life...isn't that perfect..."
It was just a dream...

He found himself as a primary school student, he heard shouting from the other room. His room didn't have a door it had broken long ago, so he could hear the constant yelling everyday. Very loud, very angry shouting...
The sound of beer bottles crashing, things being turned over and broken. Yeah...this...was his everyday reality....
This had just become routine, listening to the violence that erupted from the other room. Putting on his coat. And just leaving his home for hours on end, sometimes until the middle of the night...
And even when he came back...no one would be there to greet him. Of course, it wasn't always like this...but for the past few years, since a certain incident...he'd just been a ghost...

"And then...that happened..."
Kotaro remembered that day very well, the dark clouds, mourners, heavy rain...his drenched clothing...
Yeah...he remembered that day vividly. He'd often have nightmares about it...and about the things the people around him would say...

"That's their son isn't it?"

"How terrible...and he's so young..."

"No living relatives?"

"His parents separated from their families, they were both disowned, so neither side wants anything to do with the boy."

"How sad...guess he'll be going to an orphanage...?"

"Probably...he's a pretty messed up kid though..."

"What do you mean...?"

"Look at him...no tears, no emotion...it's like he isn't really there, he just keeps staring at that picture on the coffins."

"Who's the little girl in the picture?"

"The youngest daughter, murdered by the father apparently, they can't prove it, but everyone knows he did it. Probably what drove the family to become so strained, still...murder suicide, burned down the house too...poor kid..."

The rain was loud and heavy, but he could clearly hear the words around him. No one shielded him from the rain, afraid to be cursed by a murderer's child...
Except...for one person...
There was one person, who came up to him and shielded him from the rain with her umbrella. "Hey..." She called to him, extending her hand out to the young boy, "Do you want to come with me...?"
------
-Present day-

The alarm clock rang loudly in his ear, causing him to fall out of the chair he'd fallen asleep in.
"Ah...just a dream from the past..." That was many years ago, he was older now, and had moved since then. A new school, new friends, yep...a brand new fresh start.
He started thinking back to the person in his dream, the one who was loved by everyone...that person was strong, smart, brave, and handsome, a child that any parent would be proud of. The Kotaro now...
Well...
He wasn't strong, he was actually kind of underweight for a boy his age and could be easily tossed around like a rag doll.
He wasn't handsome, his hair was often considered 'too long' and it covered his eyes a lot of the time, not to mention his body type was very wimpy...
He was an average student, he wasn't an idiot but he wasn't a genius either, he was just average, not enough to be noticed.
And he was a coward, he had a hard time speaking to others and tended to run away when things were starting to become the least bit 'out of control'. This was due to an intense pressure-like feeling in his chest that made it hard for him to breathe.
He was also very self critical apparently...

o.o.. pretty good so far. This story didn't really have your usual style to it. xD Also, I wasn't really that into it but enough to get to the end.. maybe add a bit more detail? If the pictures were there with the words, I think it would be better. You should draw~! ;D In the beginning, I thought it sounded a bit like the anime Special A but then as I began reading to the middle, it was different. I like how it's going so far. Keep up the good work!! You should continue this one. x]
