Is Japan a sick country, with it's Lolicon/hentai/teen idols media?
Posted 6/23/10 , edited 3/18/15
Yes. Pretty obvious. it's not going to be illegal though. Hentai/Loli/Yaoi & etc. is a booming business that makes millions-billions of dollars thanks to lonely perverts/pedos. Same goes for every place that has its own business with pornography involved. not everyone in Japan supports it though btw.

I love Japan but I call it a perverted country LOL jk
But still, I don't like the fact that they have young female teenagers as Gravure idols.

I think Lolicon and ecchi is gross but not all Japanese stuff is bad just like not all American stuff is bad. I hate Otaku's.

So I am a Lonely pervert because me and my girlfriend like Hentai?
to think all this time I was Lonely that is why i must like hentai.
I better go tell my girlfriend for she to must be a lonely pedo because she likes the Loli look. And my girlfriend looks good in it.

I believe that unlike America, Japan freely expresses things that we would mostly consider taboo. Though I don't necessarily care for lolicon (since most of what I've seen is sicking), to each his own. Though some Hentai is not that bad...I can't stand teen idols, though.

i personally think USA is flushing itself down the toilet.

Haters for my respond keep in mind that i don't hate your country or its people. The fact still remains

But...you live in Finland. Though I have to say, your opinion about the US seems extremely biased.

Lolicon/yaoi/yuri/hentai and the like aren't that weird, Japan is very vocal with its preferences, you never know each country has its own so called "deficiencies" and quirks, you'll be surprised some are just silent but simmering with more pronounced perversity inside.

you're probably thinking of kodomo no jikan and ya my friend told me a bout it we watched up to the point were the little girls were changing and the teacher walked in to the classroom at which point we were like wtf is this and stopped watching,

on topic the american media is just as bad and they do it with real people at least with anime the characters aren't actually real just drawings

your right that's the 1 i managed to watch the full episode thinking it was just that scene but it got even worse so that's one anime i didn't give a second chance but i agree with American media being as bad look at singers like Brittany spears 1st song what sold it em? it must of been the great lyrics and brilliant choreography nothing to do with her looking hot as hell in a school uniform then you've actually
got young singer like Hannah Montana (milly cyrus) demi something etc lets face it they cant sing but they play on male teens hormones and female teens need to be popular

there is a lot of drama later on in the series and I know a lot of people really don't see that since they really didn't get past episode 1. The weird part is the author is a girl and the story is a big of autobiography of her life.

Speaking as a professional and an adult I must remind you all that different countries have different cultural norms. Nudity is not the taboo in the East as it is in the West. They are more comfortable with their bodies and more educated about them at a younger age. It is merely your interpretation of these eechi scenes that disgusts you.

Example time:
With an anime/manga such as Kodomo No Jikan: There are many images of nudity, but it's all clean. No sexual organs are shown outright, they are infered, but not literally drawn. Nipples are shown on occasion with character anywhere from middle school age to adult, but that image is more acceptable in the East as a maternal image rather than a sexual one as we see it in the West. There are multiple jokes that reference sexual innuendo - that is to keep the adult reader interested. This manga is meant for adults, not for preteen boys who would do not yet have the cognitive development to fully understand what is being referred to as an adult would.
On a separate point, many of the topics covered in a manga such as Kodomo No Jikan as issues that parents and teacher must be expected to face: Puberty/Menstruation, Sexual Development, An adolescent's interest in the opposite sex, Cognitive and Physical development and how those effect an adolescent's social comprehension and self efficacy. It's something we've all gone through (and if you haven't yet than you have no right to critique this article, you have a lot of development still to go yourself), it's not dirty, it's completely natural and a normal transition from childhood to adolescence and into adulthood.

Many Westerners use Manga such as Kodomo No Jikan as an example of "Perverse, Lolicon, child pornography" but that is such as clse minded view of the material. You can't simply ignore those things in real life that make you feel uncomfortable, how else are we expected to learn from our (or others', in the case of manga) mistakes. We readers of these manga (or watchers of Moe anime) are not Lolicons or Pedophiles - we simply have learned to appreciate what the world has and to accept nature for the way it is.

As far as the issue of Pantyshots on underage characters, I must remind you that in real life children are less modest about their bodies - it is not till early to mid adolescence that they begin to feel self conscious about the changes to their body and even then their own interpretation of normality is directly related to the comparison of their development to their peers. These images and statues are meant to be "cute" and "moe" (a term I used earlier in this article) not sexual in nature until the "character" reaches the age of 16 (the legal age of consent in Japan). You must also consider "shock value" when it comes to potential sales of a statuette. Would you rather have an anime statuette of someone standing up straight with every button of their shirt where it should be? ...or would you prefer a conversation piece where one character is playfully tearing at another's clothes (insert panty shot)? The conversation piece will be the better seller because it's much more eye-catching due to the action of the scene, not necessarily the panty shot.

---

That being said, yes, I agree that there are some pedophiles that use these manga, TV shows, and statuettes for sexual gratification, but it is my hope that those of us who appreciate the relational and developmental story-lines far outweigh the readers who use it as an alternative to Playboy.

I hope what I have said here allows those of you with closed minds to realize that there is more than meets the eye when you view another culture from the outside and there's not simply one answer for everything.

I personally think Japan is heading down a bad road by this kind of sick content being legal.... Also, if you like anime, you are aware... that many anime creators throw perverted scenes into their anime of chars that are under age... sometimes it's okay... but sometimes its taken too far... it's disgusting. Also figurines of chars with their panties etc visible... I mean wtf... if you don't find this disturbing you are either not an adult (18 years old), or a pedophile...

While I am bashing Japan for all it's disgusting legal content, I might as well throw out another opinion of mine.... most Otaku = pedophile... they tend to like loli chars and other under age chars a bit too much imo.

I expect to be flamed for this post, but keep in mind, I am not a racist, nor do I dislike Japan.... I am simply just sickened that this kind of content is not illegal...Japan doesn't seem to be doing anything about it either.

Oh and lets keep this topic civil.

Darling, all I got to say... God(Jesus) would be in your side <3 That's all that count. Forget what all these other people have to say or their opinion. After all, is God opinion that matter.

But also, if you aren't mature enough then you do not deserve to be watchign those content(Jesus would still be against it even if you were mature, it lust into a person eye) Life must be pretty bad in Japan... you can't even watch a movie with your family (father, mother) without these sexual content just appearing in the screen. I'd be totally shock and disgusted, and wont ever try to watch anything with them.

I mean if a anime is good... I aint going to be skipping the video when these things pop out. I want to know everything. Some of these pervertic scene makes thing funny :D

I'm not going to lie I have watched hentai before, and all I have to say stupid, dumb and I don't see the point of it. The same repeated thing keep on happening... RETARTED. I dont even know why people go to literature world to write hentai.. it's just seems dumb

You're too focused on the perverted culture in Japan. Have you looked around America?
This is a pointless thread.

This.

Exactly the conclusion my brain came to, although much more eloquently presented. Well done.

I kinda agree with him, I dislike our incredibly sex based culture, i think i screws up the mindset of young people into thinking that they need to have sex to be popular, when i was in high school i saw lots of that, all the popular girls had lost their virginity at like 14, and had already gone through like 7 boyfriends in 2 years. Same for the popular boys as well. And I live in the US.
