Nuclear Power ? There's enough nuclear fuel on earth to power it for 100 million years. Limitless energy for 100 million years.

It will permeate the soil and give birth to giant earth worms that will eat humanity. We need more electrical energy than anything, not air quality destroying petrol and other toxic, carcinogenic filth.

Nuclear can provide limitless electrical energy for hundreds of year, without any giant earthworms. Wind, Solar, Hydroelectric, aren't sufficient for our current needs, and won't be sufficient for our future needs, and they don't even hold a candle to nuclear power.

Can also burn natural gas to generate electricity.

They are too cumbersome. As the ancient cliché goes-If the system ain't broke, why fix it. Beside, oil is renewable-just kill as many carbon based organism as possible, throw them into the sea, wait a few million of years, and you get petroleum.

Wait a few million years? We don't have that kind of time. So we might need to go green with haste, not that I hug trees or side with Green Peace.

Natural gas is all well and good. We all make it and can surely supply enough to power newer vehicles. We could harvest the gases emitted by cattle and use that, too. lol

Some farmers do do that. But its not sufficient to power an entire city, just a farm or 2. Could also tap into all the frozen methane under the sea floor.

This is news to me. At least it has a use. It should become standard to keep certain people from bitching about digestive gases from cattle ruining the atmosphere.

Pigs' digestive gas can be used as methane also

Yeah, farmers have been using the methane from the for a while now. But like I said, there's not enough cows to power a city or probably even a medium size town. Solar cells aren't efficient enough yet. And wind isn't either.

There's tons of frozen methane just under the sea floor and under the floors of some lakes, could use that. If it were to melt it would release many tons of methane into the atmosphere, and methane is 60x the greenhouse gas co2 is. So might as well use it before it poses a threat.

Or we can use all the hot air blown by politicians to power our communities.

BAZING!

population and the space and natural resources is not a problem. I agree with AllhailOdin.

I think the problem is the social structure because this is the one that controls the people and how they their needs are met.

Besides, remember that humans are not immortals. It's just that the rate of birth and death varies every time. Sometimes birth rate is faster (that is why we are alarmed by the population growth right now) or sometimes death rate is faster (people are not alarmed by increase in population growth during World Wars Series or during the Medieval Age)

Could put solar farms in space or on the moon and use resonant induction to transfer the power back to earth, or use microwaves to beam it back. but you have to deal with losses due to the atmosphere. so its not very efficient.

Just establish colonies on the moon, and of course, Mars. I would kill to have a world where we achieved that. An atmosphere on the moon plus some beachfront property there. Glorious.

There are easier ways. building space bases to trap solar power through panels can gather 13 more times the power in space than we can on earth do to are atmosphere. The power than can be beam to reservoirs that directly input the power into are power grid.

Moon will work wanders for this as well.

We could generate enough power to power all of earth population in 2050 with a single large solar power Plant on the moon.

Should invest now before its to late.

hehe i agree with you that solar power is better but a space base isn't easier that nuclear power.

and yeah, we should invest now.
