What do you like about Kingdom Hearts???
Posted 4/21/11 , edited 4/21/11
Great first game, great second game, and now they are just milking the cow final fantasy style. They are doing prequels and side materials to the point there is already inconsistencies, and they use deux es machinas to cover those up.

Anyways, I like the characters the most in the first game. The second game? The story and battle system. Though by the time I was finishing KH2 up I was doing it for the love of Axel.

The story and how it immerses the player into feeling like they are apart of the game. And who doesn't love the way old Disney movies are put into a game where you get to interact and fight along side some key figures

The very complex story. Even if some of the games weren't all that great when it came to game-play, (Chain of Memories) it still was the story that kept you going. I have a specific order on the games, from most favorite, to least:

Kingdom Hearts II: Best game-play out of all of them. The reaction commands were epic.

Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep - Most complex and thriving story in the series. I like that there was no happy ending.

Kingdom Hearts: Simply the game that started it all. The reason why we all enjoy the game today.

Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories/Re: CoM - Complex story, and the ability to play as Riku when you best it.

Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days - You get to play as Roxas, when he was a "bad guy".

Kingdom Hearts Re: Coded - I didn't like that game at all. Game-play was okay, but weakest story of the six games.

So, Nomura said that he would like to release a Kingdom Hearts game every year. (He has been doing this since 2008.) And we're not far from getting Kingdom Hearts III. And I just want to tell everyone here who follows Kingdom Hearts, who is concerned about the future, and wants to know what's next.

Well, if Nomura said that we get a game every year, we will probably see some more portable games in the series, before we the release of Kingdom Hearts III. First of all, we're getting Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance next year. I'm looking forward to this. This game is serving the place of what Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories was. A game that bridges the story between two main titled games. This bridges the game from Kingdom Hearts II, to Kingdom Hearts III. It is very crucial to the story. I want to share what it's about, but if you really want to know, message me. I don't want to spoil it for anyone who isn't caught up yet.

Now, this next bit is just a prediction, so don't quote me on this. Nomura said that we may get a "Kingdom Hearts: HD Collection". And at the end of Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep Final Mix, it showed a number. "0.5". Then it said, "Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep: Volume 2". Assuming we get the HD Collection of Kingdom Hearts in 2013, we probably get the second addition to Birth by Sleep in 2014. And then Kingdom Hearts III, in 2015. We've all been very patient with this game, and I'm very excited. And the reason why it hasn't started development, is because the team that made Kingdom Hearts, and Kingdom Hearts II, is working on a Final Fantasy game. "Final Fantasy Versus XIII". It may finish development in 2012. One can only hope. Kingdom Hearts III is dependent on that game's release. If none of you have heard of it, I recommend watching the trailer. Mainly the storyline and presentation of everything in the game. The music is a bonus. It's also pretty cool to see a spin put on old childhood cartoons and movies I used to watch.

I love the music of the game!! And the fact that all of my favorite Final Fantasy characters and Disney characters are in one game together kicking butt! What more could you want? To see Mickey roll in with his keyblade takes down some heartless and then do a massive healing spell because you're about to die? One word: Awesome!!!!

With the exception of re:coded which was an abysmal piece of shit that would have insulted even the worst game series of all time, I love Kingdom Hearts. Truth be told though I think it's kind of weak though. The only world that manages to do that right is Olympus Colosseum, which at least makes an effort to include both Square and Disney characters together, everywhere else is just replaying a Disney level, weakly incorporating it into the main story by just including the Keyblade wielder and tossing a few heartless/nobodies/unversed everywhere, BBS did a terrible job of this because the unversed didn't even seem relevant to Snow Whites or Cinderellas world, it was literally like in brief moments you were fighting them that you'd been teleported somewhere else because no-one else seemed to acknowledge they were there. Lately it's got even more ridiculous by just including the same levels; You've seen Agrabah twice already, played all the stories, why is there any need to see it again for no reason?

Anyway, aside from the weak mini stories everything else is great, the characters, the music. I played the demo for Dream Drop Distance the other day and I think the flow-motion controls are pretty epic and really make battling more fun. Can't seem to get around changing abilities though for some reason. i guess I just don't like it underneath the joystick, because then you actually have to stand still to change abilities and in the heart of battle that's a little inconvenient, but it's probably cuz I haven't done it in a while.

But yea, KH, brilliant series. got my fingers crossed for a Black Cauldron level one day though, can't say the idea of Notre Dam sounds like its going to be a lot of fun in DDD.
