Have you ever defended yourself against an attack?

So, if anyone does self defense, have you ever had to use it in a situation?

I was out with some friends in University and this drunk guy started to come onto me and his drunk friends surrounded me aswell, I was about to meet some friends in a club because I wondered off on my own to draw money out and then they called me so I was on my way to meet them. I was all alone with these freaks, I told him to get lost but he just kept grabbing me. I'm very patient so I just tried to shake him off he was like "oh come on, come back with me" I was like "Fuck off!" he just wouldn't back off. The last straw was when he had me around the waist really tight and he grabbed one of my boobs. I do Ninjutsu and Aikido so I grabbed his wrist, twisted it to remove him from me, and performed a quick and easy throw. He was drunk so it was easy, I was lucky he wasn't sober because he was a really big guy and I'm only small so it was good that he was so unstable. Once he was down, one of his friends tried to grab me too! I've been trained to remain calm in any situation so I kicked him in the face as he was coming towards me, my lack of fear at the time allowed me to react very quickly and the adrenaline rush was an even greater help. Luckily some really nice guys came over and protected me so I didn't have to fight anymore. I don't get phased during situations, but afterwards I was really upset so the nice man held my hand and took me to meet my friends because I wasn't exactly sober either I met good and evil that night >_< who knows what they would have done to me. I was so happy to see my friends and hugged the guys who came to help me even if you think you are a decent fighter, you can always use an extra hand, especially if your a girl and your attackers are 4 6ft+ men.

I would love to hear your stories and see if anyone has had a similar experience, and it will help you put it behind you by talking about it.

Lol, your story was interesting. I want to learn some kinda of martial arts! but I dunno which one I'd go for. Also, nope I never been in a situation like that, but my brother friend has been..

His name is David, he is about 6 ft tall and he's big bone. He does Karate (Shadou-khan) <-- idk whether i spelt that correctly and he was walking down the street and these gang members wanted his boots so badly. It was about 4 of them. Like seriously they wanted his boots. One of the guys asked him to take off his boots, but my bro friend started running. So they all started chasing him. Every guy that approached him was beat up, lol. Then the next guy will keep on running and one by one was beaten up. The last guy actually took a knife out on him and David broke his arm and David just left running.

Chained_angel you have learned your lessons very well. Being calm is hardest and almost if not most important factor when you defend yourself.

I haven't had real fights thou i would love to have that experience but in other hand i don't want to deal with mass negitivity....Well sometimes you have to do dirty work to become stronger.

I'm 100% sure that you have learned more from real self defence action and that itself has made you improve your mentality about real fight and made you think fighting otherway than you used to, that helps you improve your skills as martial artist.

And maybe someday you don't need any help to beat 4 drunkken men

hehe thank you It was weird because, having been training for 8 years I never really got the chance to use my skills other than in tournaments, and when the time came it was just second nature to me it only hit me afterwards and I thought to myself "Woah....so this is what I have been learning". haha yeah I'll know what to expect next time lol which will be a major advantage. Hmm maybe next time (hope there won't be one) they won't be drunk, but I'll be ready.

The same will happen to you in a real fight, you won't have time to think and you'll find that the right moves to use in the situation will come to you in a flash of your mind Kicks are good when people fail to see them coming, easily blocked against another fighter though, but some drunken idiot on the street trying to rob you has no chance.

That's badass. Fortunately and unfortunately, I don't have any interesting stories of self-defense, but now I want to take up some martial arts!

Even if you block my kicks, its gonna hurt. I don't want to brag but..... its reality, when youre using shoes and ones technique is very high. EVen if you block it, its gonna hurt.

I like the fact that I was wasted and yet could defend myself against 4 attackers. I would have liked to see what I would have done sober.

I've been in countless fights. I was a pretty shitty teenager. But even so, I never kicked someones ass that didn't have it coming. Most of the fights I was in weren't really started by me. I live in a city where gangs are everywhere and think they can do whatever the hell they want, so you pretty much have to fight sooner or later.

Meh, a couple times, nothing too serious though. Just a couple girls who thought they were the shit and wanted to try me, hah.

Usually I'm the one starting shit...

Yes. Some idiot thought it would be cool to try and rob me during the night when I was going home. So he comes up to me and grabs me shirt and asks for my money. Problem is I'm 6 feet something and he's about 5 foot 8? So I kneed him in the nuts and punch him in the face and walk away :P.

Personally I haven't taken any martial arts so I don't kick. Even if I did I still wouldn't do high kicks. Too easy to lose your balance if it's blocked properly.
