Haven't people learned that people are different and it's wrong to discriminate? In 30 years our children will go to school and be taught that hating a person for being gay is silly...while somewhere in this country a gay man will not be offered jobs because of his sexual orientation, a woman will suffer criticism for accepting a coroporate job and a black man's safety will be threatened.

you just answered question in the title. people in general do want to accept this fact and want people to be on certain way or some norm, in other words they most people want every one to think and act the same way.

Who are you to be so critical of others for holding a certain set of, admittedly bigoted, beliefs. As long as they don't act on those beliefs and commit acts of violence against the object of their hatred or otherwise harm a member of the discriminated group, why should we criticise them for their values? Certainly some of your values are disdainful to the general public as well.

Also, in the work place, while racial and sexual discrimination is wrong, provided that gender/race does indeed interfere with said occupation, and credentials should take priority and all that, how can you distinguish between a homosexual person and a regular person? And if you find out later, how can you fire him without any reason?

Hateful speech and bigoted thoughts, while certainly disdainful and disgusting, are a necessary part of our democracy, and shall always exist as long as those great twin pillars of Free Thought and Free Speech stands.

Even if you don't like it, you should still appreciate it.

well, i'll kinda understand if the military will not accept gay people. No one wants a soldier who will turn into a fairy at the middle of a gun fight

Laughing at your own wit now, aren't you?

Using a weak, bigoted, and confounded pun to support a weaker conclusion.

I strongly urge you to read up on the Sacred Band of Thebes:
http://www.fordham.edu/halsall/pwh/sacredband.html

I also urge you to look up 'fairies' or at least 'sidhe':

This is a fairy known as a 'Kelpie', that haunts the grounds near lakes, ponds, rivers, and any body of fresh water. It lures humans so as to convince the him to ride it and, hence, drown and devour his flesh.

The army doesn't want gay people to join because they don't want relationships to form between soldiers (men and women soldiers are kept separate) that will hider their fighting capability. I have a friend in the navy who explained it to me. And their reasoning is sound, a relationship between soldiers would hinder their fighting ability.

But they've said as long as you keep your mouth shut we don't care. Whats wrong with that ?

Or, as in the case of the aforementioned Sacred Band, famed to have rarely tasted the bitterness of defeat, it could strengthen the bonds between soldiers, and create a more effective fighting force, as they have more at stake in each battle.

Soldiers aren't in the military to form bonds, their in the military to fight and kill stuff(people). It works both ways. It could both hider and strengthen the soldiers, but if the soldier were to lose his buddy, he'd lose the will to fight and now instead of having just one casulty, you now have 2, times the number of relationships.

Either that, or, if he were to find his love killed, would strengthen his resolves, and continue to fight for revenge.

this only applies if your white, Christan, and from/have a strong moral standing. I am talking about examples that I hear all the time though, I have to go through the b.s. that all gays will burn in hell, obama is the anti Christ and so forth.

I live in the southern part of the states. People down here are still a bit racist and hold grudges against people or the people that I know I do. I am speaking from their biblical sense that we are living in the end times and obama is the false prophit before the anti-Christ >_>also in the sense that gays will burn in hell for all eternity for the sins have committed in their lives for just living that way. If you don't understand it that's okay i really don't understand why they think this way either.

People are racist all over the earth, and people hate gays all over the earth, its not solely limited to the south US.

Its mostly religion that hates gays tho. The south is pretty religious.

Humans are incapable of getting along with other humans.
