There goes another great series. Short but sweet, as they say. The way they ended the series satisfied me. The series' staff didn't leave the audience with a major "WTF?!" ending and a lot of unresolved issues (save for what happens to those remaining NPC's and 'future students').

Kanade and the rest's little graduation ceremony was simple but must've felt really fulfilling for them. Everyone got their diplomas and said their 'thank you' for a job well done. Naoi's departure wasn't anything special (for me) and fans of his can shoot me for it. Yuri's was somewhat touching because I felt like she would've treated Kanade like her younger sister if they met in the 'afterlife' in a much better way. Hinata's was pretty calm about leaving but honestly, I hope that he is able to reunite with Yui since I thought they looked cute together.

Otonashi and Kanade's final moments have honestly made me cry. Surprisingly though, it was Otonashi who was doing most of the crying instead of Kanade! lol. But yeah, I was shocked to know that she was the one who received his heart after he died. Her life got extended, but I'm still curious on how she still left her previous life. ANYWAY, I am really happy that they didn't lose their memories after passing on. So hopefully everyone will still find each other in their new lives one way or another.

YEP. That's about it for the series! What were your reactions to it? Were you satisfied? Pissed off? Saddened? Glad? This is where we can talk about everything about the series since it's finally over and noone's going to be screaming "OMG, SPOILER!"....unless they come here at their own risk.

edit: I took a screencap from the actual last episode since this group picture had Kanade in it. c:

Haha! I see. So what kind of ending would you have wanted or expected to see?

Hmmm, I expected that Otonashi would live a happy life with Kanade in heaven with every one else

It made me sad
Forgetting everyone and all the bonds (maybe) and starting a new life over and over again...

Great anime...loved every single episode and like many others was also surprised when Kanade explained how Otonashi's heart saved her,,, All of this followed by the usual sadness/depression I get after finishing another insanely good anime (gotta hate those attachments to the characters and the happy/sad times experienced throughout).

So soon after, a thought came to mind.....Since Kanade inherited her heart from the deceased Otonashi, and Yuri and her team have been fighting off Kanade long before Otonashi arrived, (meaning he had not died yet?) How could Kanade have been in the afterlife before him if her life was extended by his heart...

doesn't really change or impact the storyline much but just seemed like a commonly overlooked thing, maybe?? whatever....just noticed it suddenly.

Anyway, <3 how the last scene was unexpectedly emotionally touchy and sad. Hit me up if you know any other similar anime. Peace!

Only thing I can think of is that you don't go straight to the afterlife when you die...

Another thing that doesn't really make sense after learning that Kanade has Otonashi's heat is why he was "done in" in Ep 1 when Kanade stabs him in a heart we now know isnt there.

The ending was very sad but at the same time happy. It's like Otonashi said to everyone: even though their bodies may never come together again, the bonds between their souls will always stay together. The most important bond that was made (Kanade and Otonashi) was even brought back together in the next life. I just wish the anime didn't have to end, but that final episode was the best way to wrap up everything.

The only reason at the top of my head right now is because this one, for example, was direct to the point. No fillers arcs, episodes or whatever. When they said they'd rebel against "God" and his "messenger", they did that and were led to the truth that Kanade was actually one of them. Then their next goal (initially just Otonashi's) was to help everyone pass on. And they did it, although some were quick while some took a while like Yui's.

lets revive this thread!!!

I just watched it today and finished it in 1 sitting

TT______TT

This was an epic anime TT__TT too bad I never cry whenever I know its a sad anime..
Since it was my sister who said "brother! watch it! it'll make you cry!" so my defense mechanism worked and I wasn't able to cry even if I want to TT__TT

but yeah it was so great.. a good comedy slice of life anime.. the setting was kinda like purgatory no?

ha~ its funny how I am excited to die someday lol.. I really wanna know whats out there once we die..

and yeah I found it weird that kanade was there before otonashi.. and the thing about the programmer strikes me too.. I may rewatch it to analyze it someday *not now because Im too depressed with the anime TT__TT*

cause the other programmed dude mentioned about the programmer being there as a npc

that he was like otonashi, who have lived a fulfilled life but got there because of amnesia.. then he finds love in that place, but his gf leaves him alone, so he stayed and waited until she comes back.. there were too many details so I guess Ill rewatch it next time

right now I'm too depressed, sad and happy about the anime TT__TT I always hate whenever a great anime ends TT__TT

I also wish it was longer, like more detailed on how the others departed, their past and stuffs like that..

aaaaahhhh how I wish I can cry TT__TT stupid defense mechanism of being a man who dosent cry TT__TT

How did Kanade get to that world before Otonoashi if Otonashi died first? Since he did donate her his heart which obviously meant he died first lol. But yeah overall beautiful anime.
