Hollywood isn't being racist. I can tell you and it should be obvious. The only intentions they have is to make the most money they can. The only color they care about is green. If people of fair skin sell better to the largest consumer group the movie will target, it isn't racism, just good business move to make money. Long gone are the days when people thought someone couldn't do something because of the color of his/her skin.

Those who cry racism everywhere are often covering feelings of racism themselves.

they are being racist by discriminating against minorities Hollywood is racist when they assume the American audience won't tolerate a movie with minorities as the leading roles they are racist when they engage in a demeaming practice of using white actors to portray non-white actors.(yellowface and blackface) and this "racists always cry racism" line will not work

This isn't the first time Hollywood has "white washed" a movie.

your an idiot its not "white denial" its common sense. They arent discriminating they just rather Caucasians for the movie, and they can put whoever they want in their movie regardless of what the original characters were. They only want to make more money (like jamac13 said). All companies care about is money and your blind that cant see that this is not racist.

white denial is denying that racism exists by whites and yellowfacing is the use of white actors to portray east asians in movies

http://www.timwise.org/

Tim Wise has more info and white denial

Yellowface is the practice in American cinema, American theatre, and American television where East Asian characters are portrayed by predominantly white actors, often while artificially changing their looks with makeup in order to approximate East Asia facial characteristics; it also describes situations in which non-Asian people control what it means to be Asian on stage and screen

I never said racism didn't exist. But there's a difference between discrimination and racism.

As for "yellowfacing". I don't see a problem with it. If you yourself have a problem with it, don't go watch the movie. As for others who don't have a problem with it, we'll enjoy a good movie. There really isn't any "political incorrectness" here. If a director likes someones voice, but he doesn't fit the appearance, he'll try to alter his appearance somehow. This is how it's been for... like... forever. Also, if you have a problem with this, you should probably also have a problem with Japanese characters in video games and anime looking white instead of Asian.

Discrimination isn't wrong, nor is it illegal. If someone can't do the job, then you have a right to discriminate against them in that regard. A person isn't going to hire someone who can't do a job, because they're lazy or for whatever other reason, just because it's wrong to discriminate, get it?

Sometimes the job role includes being white, or Asian, or whatever other skin color, this however isn't the case, since they said any race would be fine. They did specifically mention Caucasian, and that may be because they don't want to waste money on makeup, or whatever other reason. This isn't racism, there is no hate targeted towards any particular race. This is Discrimination, and it seems you can't tell the difference.

heres the thing on your last paragraph. no matter what race they chose they would still have to use makeup. i dont see how choosing someone of a particular race will save money on makeup....but anyways,
its not the voice alone that the director concentrates on (but i bet you know that). its just that the director chooses an actor/actress that can do the role, the actor also has to be affordable.

so in other words you continue to deny there is a problem with racism and discrimination in hollywood and making excuses even after i listed examples in this and another thread this is what Time wise called a culture of denial(white denial)

there are other things in world to be worried about than a stupid movie. Maybe if you took some of this energy for something productive in life instead of something stupid as this. hell it's a stupid movie that will probably bomb to begin with.

so people dying, being raped, killed and so forth is more important than a movie that is going to suck? Yeah nice to know where your priorities are at.

there faces are not painted yellow, they are just played by white characters. Hell anime it's self is self-racist, how many characters look like Asians to begin with?? Most characters look like Caucasians to be honest with you and you know what it's been that way for years. when I watched the cartoon on nick ang looked white to begin with and katara was brown, but what ever that's artistic freedom. I am done with this thread, there is no point anymore if it makes you feel any better i will not be seeing the movie because I hate all live action adaptions of any animated movie.
