Lol, used school-girl panties in vending machines, air-sex competitions, the glass table fetish, all of this came from the far east. A lot of people who are obsessed with Japan and stuff don't do their homework. Plus they grow purple haze in the emperor's palace, and no one can touch it! That's such an unfair tease lol

There's actual psychological terms for this. But the correct one is insanity.

I think it has to do with their demographic, Like a lot of the folks on this website like japan because of anime or Dramas, since this website supplies animes and dramas those types of people will come here, if you went on a gangster rap website lots of people there would love rap and urban music, or if you were on a reggeton website it would be the same, it all has to do with what you are into and where you go to express it. =)

Yeah, they would love rap or whatever, but they probably wouldnt be obsessed about it... wapanese or otakus have a way of shutting themselves in, isolated from the rest of the world, in their own little dream world concisting of hello kitty dolls and smiling anime maids

I don't think you'll get any single clear-cut answer to this question. People will all have their own reasons for liking something the way they do.

If you're just asking to pick at people's reasons, then you shouldn't have in the first place. Or maybe you should have just titled the thread, "Why do you love Japan/Japanese People."

I actually spent six months in Japan for school and it's not so hyped up that people make it seem to be.
It's just like any other country to me.
Yeah, there were some quirks but you quickly get over them
Only people who are in their little weeaboo worlds who thinks that pocky grows on trees and every asian person there looks like an anime character and is sexy thinks it's Wonderland
On the other hand; I love Korea; was there for two weeks and I want to live there :)

I think it's because that's what we're exposed to the most. If you were to sit and watch like Cartoon Network, you don't see British cartoons or Spanish cartoons. You see American and Japanese, for the most part. And getting exposed to that one anime that you like because it has cool robots like Gundam Wing or it's drawn beautifully and so drastically different than the goofy looking things that we put out for our kids to watch gets a person interested. Then when you hear that opening theme song of that anime, you wanna know where it came from and who made it. Then, you find another anime that's similar to the one you like and another and another and then you find yourself really liking what you see and what you hear. So then the casual watcher becomes a hardcore fan over time. Then, when you tell your friend, they show you something else and then you find that you like that too. So then you look for others and the process repeats itself. It's the same way with everything else. When you play one type of video game and you get hooked into it, then you wanna play another like it, and then another, and another. Then, you go to your buddies house and play something completely different and when you get hooked to that, the process continues. And once you get hooked into something from another country, it's only natural to become more interested in that country. Why does it's cartoons look so much different than ours? Why does the music sound so different? What are they saying when they're talking? Then, you find yourself delving into the country's culture, learning about it's history and learning the language. So I guess in all, what I'm trying to say is that when people find something they are interested in, their curiosity grows and then bam, they're hooked and can't let go.

At least that's how it was for me.

And we don't all become shut-ins. Or...wapanese. However, there are a fair share of them. I don't think I'm one of them at least. I know how to put the anime down and go outside lol.
